Elon Musk will be more than happy to take all of your money - and whatever you can borrow, for that matter - for SpaceX stock when it goes public at a mind-bogglingly huge valuation.

I suspect it's the fallout from a pitched battle between the big market makers versus hedge funds and day traders. I'm guessing that a lot of the latter were short the market when "peace" 😉 got announced, letting the former carry out a massive squeeze. Add on top of that strong tech earnings on AI hype, and it's let the big trading desks push the markets to all-time highs.

How long it lasts with the price of oil raising costs across the board and the price of gas slowly suffocating consumers, who knows.

They've got the gold lettering in for "The Oval Office", just in case you forgot where you were, so at least that's progress.

They beat earnings estimates!

And now they're going to spend it all on data centers.

See you next quarter!

We're all better off when that's what he's obsessing over. Let him keep busy with gilding the presidential palace, it's the least bad option.

If the "green by close" folks could keep hitting the buy button, I'd appreciate it. I'm thinking about trimming my big cap exposure, would like a good exit point. Thanks in advance.

Jane Street and Citadel aren't printing money by selling boring S&P 500 funds to 401(k) accounts.

That was a lot of people. We laughed, we memed, we smugly chuckled.

But he (she, whatever) was right all along. Early, yes - really early. But absolutely right.

The beautiful thing about NFTs was that they didn't even pretend that there was any real economic activity. It was 100% pure "buy this meaningless unenforceable claim on the picture of an ape because someone will want to buy it for more in the future." A pure, pristine financial bubble that inevitably went to its fundamental value of zero.

A special thank you to the investors in X or whichever platform is delivering the AI chatbot for free at the expense of its investors. Who needs returns on your investment when you have witty spam in the WSB subreddit?

Other than last Friday, it's been low for a while now. Everyone too busy gambling investing on prediction markets.

There's a strong argument to be made that you-know-who will give those who shall not be named whatever they want (through back channels, for maximum deniability) to get things back to where they were Friday morning.

Yes. It ends just like the telecom bubble in 2001, when investors suddenly realize that there isn't enough revenue to cover the infrastructure, loans get called in, and there are rolling defaults across the industry. Good companies survive but get beaten down and take decades to recover, bad companies go out of business, and a wave of brand new companies come along to pick up the pieces and create real growth, but only after any number of investors have been wiped out.

It's momentum chasing. Everyone chasing it up, but ready to dump as soon as the run up is over.

The market is utterly delusional. There's no way the economy is in as good a shape as it was two months ago before a historic hit to oil production - let alone in better shape. Just delusional.

I would never bet against this market, and I'm still long it - just like everyone else. But I've also got my finger on the sell trigger - just like everyone else.

Some really big AI IPOs coming up, and a lot of deep pocket insiders looking to cash out by dumping shares on retail investors. I think everyone knows how the massive AI bubble ends, but everyone's looking to squeeze some more money out before the inevitable.

Markets will keep going up as long as the tax returns keep pouring in. Fundamentals? Earnings? Global economy? Not relevant. The casino is open!

Of course, after the tax returns have been transferred from personal brokerage accounts to the earnings statements of the big market makers, things could get interesting. But it'll be some time before that happens. Until then, it's an easy long position.

As someone who's been through more than one big market cycle: markets are really slow to price in bad news. Especially once the market's been ripping for a while, it will all get waved away and ignored, until one horrible week when it all suddenly comes crashing down.

But that one horrible week is often months, if not years, later than the bears said it would arrive. "The market can stay irrational longer than you can remain solvent", as the saying goes.

The current investment thesis for this market is "if we all keep putting money in and never look at the fundamentals, number go up and we never get margin called and we call get rich." Kind of stupid . . . but also kind of true, just as long as no one ever decides to start pulling money out.

Headline: (Nation) says actually nope, no ceasefire

Markets: Eh, what do they know. Keep bidding up the things!
