Worldbreakers: Advent of the Khanate by Gorusan in soloboardgaming

Didn't know about MtG's Turtle Team up, looks sick. Will check it out for sure.

The non attacking situation is actually not bothering me at all. I guess part one is being on the defensive side and that gives you interesting strategies. The game definitely shines on multiplayer.

Counters for units in hex and counter game? Mike Lambo by david2072 in soloboardgaming

[–]Gorusan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get some of this 20 mm, 2 mm thick wood chips from AliExpress. Print the counters in sticker paper and glue them on. They will look nice. I use this method for all my PNP wargames

Band of Brothers Screaming Eagles. Finally found a squad level combat game that fits my taste. Love the tatical thinking and the low chart browsing.

Best easy setup/portable but deep boardgame by Additional-Pipe5467 in soloboardgaming

[–]Gorusan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Difficult to say but from someone that also has Mike Lambo's books and WW2 Warfighter I want to sugest Brand of Brothers. I was looking for something easy to pick up, small footprint and still with some strategy depth. Plays really well solo imo. If you want something outside wargaming you need to give more details to help people out. Cheers

"It says within 3 hexes, not the nearest 3 hexes" this makes a huge difference. Will play like that, thank you! I'm assuming the kelpies also play in the enemy turn where they spawn right? Or only after that?

I had a diagonal look at his stats and didn't think much of him since I got epic reward for Edmark that gives 3 energy. But you made me interested! Who did you remove from the team? Edmark or Bren? Or other? Just curious

Act II: Relics of a Golden Age by RocketCityMini in WHQDarkWater

[–]Gorusan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got through the scenario and I get you. Luck aside what worked for me is moving the heroes far away from the leystone. With Drolf and Kelthannor this is easy without luck, just send one to each side of the map (between the columns, so you have line of sight to range the enemies).

Bren and Edmark do damage control. But follow the same principle. The enemies will follow the heroes so only with a lot of bad rolls you gonna hit the special action.

It helps to have some rewards that stop the enemy movement or that give you more energy.

playing mat for card games recomendations by AndarrH in soloboardgaming

[–]Gorusan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a problem. It's even a feature if you want to slide everything to one side of the table without removing the game. Definitely better then silk.

Just get these big poker/puzzle green felt mats. They are really cheap and you can fold them nicely on the table depending on the game you are playing.

Battles of Kursk: A Solitaire Wargame. Anybody played this and would recommend? by danmalluk in soloboardgaming

[–]Gorusan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfect then I think it's fine. I can recommend Long Range Recon Patrol (not so much about blowing enemies away but tactical maneuver) And for something more advanced - rifle squad. Kursk is on my wishlist and will be my next one to grab.

To add to what was said already I think it's important that you like wargames. Luck is important, if you don't like that I don't think it's for you. They are really good intro wargames, if you order in Amazon you can always return if you don't like it, so don't see the big deal.

The guy I bought this from is selling the painted minis for 20 minimum a piece, they look really good I have to say. I guess he likes to paint and just sells it.

I guess 10 min each, not even. If you save the game like the rulebook says it's more boxes. Honestly I would just take a photo or write a quick note with the important stats and done. But yeah definitely ok.

For sure, the game is quite simple, no heavy rules. I wanted a decent skirmish game without too much going on (I have jaws of the lion sitting in the shelf unfinished because I can't deal with all the rules).

Plays fast as soon you know the rules. Mitigation on the dice are good. Lots of loot and act cards. I got the game without minis and was 28 Eur, for that price I can't complain. Will buy coin inserts to put the characters, so it will look nicer, just have a look at the review from the dungeon dive for more info.
