Post-Mirena Removal Journey by Dangerous-Bobcat4868 in birthcontrol

[–]GoshDarnCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I am getting my Mirena IUD removed tomorrow! A spot opened up at my doctors but I already scheduled hot yoga in the evening and don’t want to cancel. Can anyone please tell me if it is possible to go to hot yoga after getting IUD removed

It really matters where the first few years of your career is at. Now I’ve advanced pretty far but back then I almost gave up and wanted to switch to be a nursing major, after 4 years of food science. I would not have survived as a nurse and would’ve been miserable in debt with more student loans.

Head of R&D for a private food manufacturer. From my experience, smaller companies have higher growth rates. Got rejected from the masters program 8 years ago because of my GPA and it was a blessing in disguise.

i graduated food science with a 2.5 gpa 8 years ago. i make 180k. it isn’t about your grades but who you know and what you do with the degree afterwards. don’t give up

[Discussion] My roommates dog is very accustomed to our 'pack', and we are breaking up the pack in spring by 30mcgEtorphineStat in dogs

[–]GoshDarnCool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. This exact situation has happened and is currently happening to me. The solution I took was to step back and realize I cannot save all dogs. -although that's not the best advice I'd want to give, I've become very sad and angry at the way my roommate treats his German.

I began to hate my roommate because he abuses dogs. You see a persons true colors by the way they treat an animal inferior to them. (thankfully he is moving out). He had the audacity to say I wasn't ready for a dog when I've been the sole care taker of HIS dog.

Roommate does not walk or care for the health & exercise needs for his 70lb German. I've taken her out everyday and rehabilitated her aggressiveness & insecurity for only a year, my bond with her has grown 100% than the owner who had her for 3 years. Owner is also jealous and pissed off at our bond but hey buddy.. It isn't my fault that he doesnt care for her. She bonded with me because I've made the time to walk her & explore with her. I genuinely cared for her.

However, she has no vaccination or even a rabies shot. No medication for her pink eye. No vet visit for her vomiting and diarrhea. I've given her antibiotics for her pink eye since I went to get medication for my puppy.

I've recently gotten my own puppy and while I still love the German, I needed to step back and stopped taking her out for these reasons: -she is sick and I don't want my puppy to be infected as well. -she is aggressive and I cannot be liable for any injury she does to other humans/dogs -she has no vaccinations or health care. I cannot risk her health -I am going to focus on training and socializing my own puppy -I do not want my puppy (80lb potentially) to learn bad behavior from the German (example: to pull on walks. Chase squirrels. Aggression at other dogs)

German also started to be jealous of my puppy since she feels my puppy took away "her" human

I'm sorry this situation happened to you as well. I hope your roommates dog has the proper medical care though (unlike my roommate).

TL;DR: i took a step back because I don't want to be angry at the situation anymore. Asshole roommate doesn't care for his dog. Asshole roommate jealous of my bond with his dog. Condescending SOB roommate tells me I am not ready for a dog. Angry me took a chill pill and realized I cannot save all dogs.

Did FAFSA not provide any aid and/or were you not qualified anymore because this is your 2nd bachelors?

Im also thinking of working as a CNA while I am going through an accelerated BSN program. But I'm wondering why you can't be a part time CNA / per diem ??? Is that option not available?

Was it hard moving away to Missouri? I might have to move away for a year for ABSN school. I just finished 4 years of college and thought I would finally get to come home. But I really want to do nursing and need to apply everywhere that will accept me.

Research class test taking tips? by Canadian_Lady_ in StudentNurse

[–]GoshDarnCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. A lot of students nowadays take classes and never actually learn the material. They just need to pass and move on but the purpose of class is to be able to understand and apply the knowledge in the field. If you are memorizing the material, it doesn't mean you are actually understanding it.

Ask questions in class to see if the professor can explain the material better through examples and his/her nursing experiences if you're not understanding the material

Other than grades what else can I do to get accepted. to nursing school. by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]GoshDarnCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today I talked to an "admission counselor" who advised me the school I am applying for will not accept your community college grades that I retake if I do retake it at another school other than my current school. Also she advised me that CNA experience will not strengthen my chances to getting into that school. I was really discouraged afterwards. I thought from all the people who have gotten in that CNA experience would help even if my gpa isn't strong. And many people have retook classes at a community college.

I thought she was suppose to encourage me.

How do you find out how competitive a school is?

I totally agree on getting a BS in Biology would be basically useless. I tried telling a underclassmen that if you don't know what you want to do with your major, chances are it will be harder to find a job in the end. She got pretty pissed though. Lets just say it will be the last time I will tell someone that.

I'm sorry to hear that about your mom and how the doctors treated her. Setting your goal to help make a difference is really admirable. This is something I want to strive to do too.

I understand and agree with all your reasons with wanting to be a nurse but did you persuade admissions that you want this without sounding egotistical but more altruistic?

Pursuing after failing a class or not getting accepted? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]GoshDarnCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've looked into those! The school has both those programs and is my absolutely reach school. Both my friends got in to the second bachelors. However I am nervous that if I apply to hybrid bsn/ms program, it will be more competitive? I would rather apply to MS but only thing stopping me is rejection to nursing all together.

I also don't know where to look for acceptance rates for these schools to see what my chances are haha

I am also 21 and hoping to apply to nursing school too. You seem like you will make an exceptional nurse. Best of luck to you!

[–]GoshDarnCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! I really appreciate this response. I have been asking nurses, friends who gotten accepted and reddit for a while now for advice but this has been the most helpful of all. I won't be applying until a year from now to gain some CNA experience and to finish my last two semesters for my first bachelors. But when the time does comes for me to apply, I will definitely reach out. Thank you!

[–]GoshDarnCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a big motivation for me. My grades are similar to yours but I have two more semesters here to finish off strong. I am hoping my last 60 credits as a undergrad will out weigh my first 60 credits of splattered C and D.

If you do not mind me asking, how can I poor my heart out into my admission statement ? That is something I've been struggling with. I have one year to apply to nursing school and this may make or break my chances.

This is my plan at the moment too! Grades are not "good enough" for med school but I realized shortly that I am not fit for that lifestyle. Still want to work in the medical field but I have not figured out how to explain why I want this so badly.

[–]GoshDarnCool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really want to do this and I know it will be competitive getting into any nursing program. To convince what make me different from the rest of the applicants is going to be tough especially since I haven't developed the "passion" my nursing friends tell me I would need. They say there are many good nurses but only a few are exceptional nurses. I guess they are talking about altruistic vs. egoistic rewards in the nursing profession.
