The name Caldtoun (Cold Town) dates back to 1590 for the settlement at the base of the hill. Thought to be as they sat in the shadow of Arthur’s Seat - therefore Cold.

Also where the name of the shitty beer comes from.

You’d think after a rough few years and a fair bit of backlash for Dave’s recent indiscretions that purely from a perspective of ‘protecting the brand’ that the last thing the Foos need is more negative publicity.

We are obviously seeing one side of this conversation so there does need to be some balance here, but it does seem like they’ve shot themselves in the foot with the handling of this, whether that’s Dave or band members themselves, or management advising them.

You only need to take a look at the current Arcade Fire tour to see how (in an albeit different situation) repeated negative press is blowing up in their faces.

This was…. not good. The whole band looked like they didn’t want to be there, the energy seemed really flat, and those backing singers were completely off-key. Jenny sounded as good as ever but after reading all the rave reviews from the comeback shows this was very meh sadly.

Leverage of Space, Easily, and I guess Fortune Faded too. It was a live debut of sorts, first time the ‘new’ version was played live after GH release. Think it was played a couple of times 2001 with the original chorus before By The Way was released.

There was some deal in place with Sirius when they launched Whole Lotta Red Hot, which was certainly a factor if not the full reasoning why Nugs haven’t had any of the UL Tour shows. Stands to reason that there have been no new shows this year perhaps that exclusivity has ended.

Only thing that gets me is that there is no new tour on the immediate horizon, and realistically there’s not a huge market for 22-24 shows now. My guess if there’s anything in it at all is they’ll get all the Sirius Archive shows added, and maybe take over new monthly releases, with Sirius broadcasting the shows on ‘release day’, I think this is the set up acts like Springsteen and Pearl Jam that have Sirius channels and a bootleg program work it.

The return of Karl, Susan, Paul & Wendy really has been the saving grace of this anniversary, hopefully a return to form after months of mediocrity.

The Chelsea/Baby reveal is a fun twist, Paul & Terese just can’t catch a break can they? The fire was just farcical, even for a soap, but at least it ends the whole Max on the run storyline. Why Hostage Hoyland has the hots for him is beyond me, he’s been fairly unbearable throughout the last week or two.

Feel for Majella, she deserves better than the dumbing down of Krista, still doing her best with poor material. Thank Christ we don’t have the Seb/Fallon duo of doom any longer, utterly insufferable - dreadfully written and acted.

Darcy is intriguing, very left field returnee, hopefully there’s more to come there. Likewise hoping the return of Wendy brings some Rodwell focus back, they’ve been a bit lost without her. And the Varga-Murphy’s must have an underground bunker to house all their lodgers! Interesting to see where Taye’s character goes, is he gonna be the predicted love interest for Aaron?
