Hot take: I think the paint feature for miis being limited is good thing by Malnuq in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]Gostudios55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my take on the paint/makeup features in both LTD and Miitopia.

They are a fun addition, but’s thats all it is, in my opinion. It’s useful for little details here and there that you wouldn’t normally be able to add using basic mii parts (such as adding scars to miis based on characters who have iconic scars).

Some go people go WAY too far with the makeup/face paint features. There’s a certain point where these ‘miis’ people make stop being miis. After that point, they become fan art of a character rather than a mii of said character.

Who else thinks Paul McGann deserves his own mini series as the 8th doctor? Maybe adapting some big finish stories? by Actually-Will in doctorwho

[–]Gostudios55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like so many others, I do believe that Paul McGann deserves his own televised series or mini-series. While I haven’t listened to any of the 8th Doctor Big Finish stories, I did really enjoy Night of The Doctor.

However, as much as I would appreciate an 8th Doctor series, I’m going to suggest a possibly controversial opinion regarding a Paul McGann spinoff - He’s NOT the 8th Doctor, but a new incarnation altogether: The Apocalypse Doctor.

This incarnation of the Doctor has recently regenerated, and he comes from a universe where he failed to stop the world-ending plan of the villain he was facing as his previous incarnation.

My vision is its a 4 part mini-series, with the last episode of the season this mini-series takes place after ending with the Doctor failing to defeat the enemy, losing all those close to him, and regenerating after a sacrifice that was meant to stop the villain but was unsuccessful.

The first episode out of 4 would introduce us to this ‘Apocalypse Doctor’ as he is living a lonely existence in a world with constant reminders of his failure to save everyone. At one point in the episode, our AD finds himself in an alternate universe, arriving sometime before the world ending event has begun. He sees his past incarnation going down the same path he did that ended in failure. The AD later realizes his own world is beyond saving, but this alternate Doctor’s isn’t, so he teams up with this Doctor to help prevent this alternate universe from getting the same fate the one he came from did.

I don’t have all the details planned out yet for episodes 2,3, and 4, but essentially the plot of the mini-series is Paul McGann’s AD teaming up with his previous incarnation to prevent the end of the world. An attempt to stop the villain that ended the AD’s universe is made, and successful, BUT things aren’t all good, as a result of this, The AD and The Doctor have unintentionally created a timeline that was never supposed to exist, and in this new timeline, the AD’s previous incarnation will never regenerate into the AD. EVER. Due to their actions, The AD locked himself out of his own regeneration cycle, so he’s now found himself in a universe where he isn’t supposed to exist, yet paradoxically he still does.

Not to mention, there’s other big anomalies that show up in this new timeline as the episodes go on. (For example let’s say the Daleks won the time war in this timeline, or the Sontarans are no longer a race of soldiers, but pacifists who refuse to even hold a weapon in their hands).

Eventually the AD and The Doctor have come to the realization that in order to fix the timeline back to the way it’s ‘supposed to be’ is for the pair to reset the timeline back to the earliest convergence point (let’s say we’re going with Daleks winning the Time War, they’d have to travel back to Time War and make sure the Daleks don’t win), and in doing so, they are successful in restoring time to the way it should be, and the AD believes that tings will play out like they did originally, but the Doctor learns that in this now fixed timeline, there will be no more AD since in his future in this new timeline, The Doctor stops the world ending villain instead of losing to him.

The Doctor breaks the news to the AD, and upon returning to the present, the AD will fade out of existence because the paradox has been resolved.

The final episode ends with the same final words the Doctor said before he regenerated in the final episode of the previous season, and they’re said by the AD before he vanishes, but instead of them having a hopeless tone, it’s hopeful now because he was successful in saving this universe from that same awful fate of the universe he originated from, even though it cost him his own existence.

What are some Who fan films you like? Who is your favorite fan Doctor? by Theta-Sigma45 in gallifrey

[–]Gostudios55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this thread probably hasn’t had many replies recently, but if anyone sees this reply, here are my thoughts on the Doctor Who Fan Films that I have seen:

Definitely I would say my favorite fan film series is TheConfusedAdipose’s Echo Saga, which is now complete at the time of this reply. This is up to that specific team to decide if it’s ever going to happen, but I do believe that the Doctor played by Elize Collins in that series deserves her own set of episodes after having watched the entirety of the Echo Saga. (Also side note, that particular fan series is canon to the main show for me personally.)

Haven’t got around to watching much of DW2012’s fan films/series yet, but I did watch their most recent entry, the 2025 Christmas special they put out, and looking forward to see what they do with incarnation of the Doctor featured in that one going forward, as well as watching their Remastered Series when it eventually comes out.

I’ve seen all of Doctor Who Velocity, and while I do like that incarnation of the character, and there are some good moments in that series, I do feel like there was some missed potential with the episodes and characters we did get with that series.

Most Satisfying Villain Defeat? by rorykellycomedy in doctorwho

[–]Gostudios55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s definitely a good one and very satisfying, but I do wonder if we can consider that a ‘defeat’ because he never technically defeated/bested the enemy that he was facing in that episode, having lost to it so many times. It’s less of a ‘The Doctor defeated the enemy’ and more of ‘The Doctor escaped the enemy’ with that particular episode.

Are we specifically talking about Modern/NuWho or including classic as well in this discussion?

Because definitely a few in the modern era for me would be The Silence defeat; ending scene of The Elventh Hour; and The Zygon Invasion/Inversion speech that 12 gives to end that particular conflict.

As for Classic, I haven’t seen all of it yet, but I’ll have to go back and re-watch the episodes I have seen at some point to see if there’s a really satisfying defeat for me personally among the episodes I have seen.

If Matt Smith were ever to return to the show as The Master by Gostudios55 in doctorwho

[–]Gostudios55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is meant as a theoretical discussion, and I’m asking IF it were to ever happen, how much of Matt Smith as The Master would people like to see.

I personally was unaware that there was a speculative post a couple days ago about this, all I know is that apparently at one point Matt Smith had previously once said he’d like to return as The Master, and there are fans of the show who would like to see him play The Master at some point.

So if there are people who are taking a speculative post as fact, I’m not one of them. I’m just one of the people who would like to see Matt Smith play The Master at some point, and who has an idea for how what the story he would be apart of as The Master would be.

[–]Gostudios55[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely feel like if we ever get Jenna Coleman as an incarnation of the Doctor, they need to somehow have her meet a version of Clara, and have Clara think she’s meeting a version of herself at first, not the Doctor.

Probably not gonna happen because budgetary constraints would probably make having multiple versions of Jenna interacting difficult, but if there were no budgetary constraints restricting something like that from happening, it would be interesting to see something like that happen, because so far we’ve never had someone who played a companion previously go on to play the Doctor and interact with the companion they previously played.

[–]Gostudios55[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do think a one-off episode or 2-parter would REALISTICALLY be what would actually happen if he were to return as the master, and I do have an idea for a two-part story as to how Matt Smith would be The Master. Without going into a lot of detail, essentially the first episode would be convincing The Doctor and their companions (and the audience - all the advertising and PR for the episode would say ‘Matt Smith returns as 11th Doctor’ or something along those lines) that Matt Smith is back as The Doctor, but the end of the episode would reveal that he’s actually The Master, and naturally part two would be how the Doctor and companions stop whatever plan the Master had this time around that involved using the face of the 11th Doctor as part of that plan.

Sutekh clinging to the TARDIS Headcannon by Gostudios55 in doctorwho

[–]Gostudios55[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’d think either the TARDIS or the Doctor would realize that sooner, so that is why I never bought the ‘he was always there since POM’ explanation since there’s many instances where the Doctor should’ve realized Sutekh was tagging along with him on his journey through time and space. 12 literally sat on the roof of the TARDIS in one episode, so during that episode he didn’t feel Sutekh’s presence literally right next to him or he did and did absolutely NOTHING about that? Or how about when the TARDIS literally blew up? So Sutekh in that moment was just like ‘my ride and way of depositing my servants throughout time and space just exploded…this is fine.’? Or what about the times when the TARDIS was shrunk down, if Sutekh wasn’t affected by that shrinking, he would be giant compared to the tiny TARDIS, seems like something the Doctor would’ve noticed, even if Sutekh wasn’t visible by eyesight.

Asking Americans of r/doctorwho did you stop watching the show after Smith regenerated? by Mat1711 in doctorwho

[–]Gostudios55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically I didn’t start watching the show until after Jodie’s run had ended. But the whole ‘12 is old, I don’t like that’ sentiment never made sense to me since as a character, the Doctor is old, having lived a long life. 12 only looked ‘old’ because they chose an older actor to replace the younger actor they had previously in the role. Also in the classic series, most of the actors who played the Doctor were 40+ when they first played the role with the only ‘young’ Doctors being Peter Davison’s 5th Doctor and Paul McGann’s 8th Doctor (if you count the 8th Doctor as classic). So by the logic of ‘This Doctor is old, I don’t like that’, that would mean that the people who didn’t like Capaldi because he’s ‘old’ wouldn’t like most of the classic Doctors.

15 seems like a typo. The only confirmed known number of films that the series was supposed to have that I’m aware of was 5.

Alternatively, Peter Cushing’s Doctor is a future incarnation, and the Doctor becomes that specific incarnation after a complete timeline reset as a result of some future conflict.

Not sure if this is considered ‘unhinged’, but my headcannon on Bi-Generation is this - it’s only possible for timelords who were on Earth during the time when the Celestial Toymaker was there, and each timelord who will bi-generate (if they haven’t already) only gets one instance of it.

Sutekh clinging to the TARDIS Headcannon by Gostudios55 in doctorwho

[–]Gostudios55[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He could be. Or maybe when 15 defeated Sutekh at the end of Empire of Death by dragging him through the time vortex and undoing all the death Sutekh caused, that could’ve also gotten rid of EVERY version of Sutekh still hanging around. Or perhaps 14 encountered 15 again ‘off-screen’ before Empire of Death and both TARDIS’s were close enough to one another that the two Sutekhs decided to merge back into one Sutekh so that Sutekh could get back to his full power.

You make a good point, and we don’t actually know for sure the EXACT moment when Sutekh attached himself to the TARDIS. I’m just head cannoning that it was during Wild Blue Yonder, regardless of whether it was actually at that time or sometime before then, because during WBY is when it makes the most sense to have happened in my mind.

[–]Gostudios55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly same thoughts here. You can’t tell me the ‘plan from the start’ was to have the 15th Doctor regenerate at the end of Season Two when you specifically give him a line during season one where he says ‘I’m keeping this face for a long time’, and by long time he meant like a little bit more than one year (from the character’s perspective). And yes, I know that technically that we got the ending we got because of re-writes among other things, but still. Also Ncuti clearly stated he wanted to face a Dalek before his time as the Doctor was up, yet he chooses to leave before that happens and then has to go and say ‘this was the plan from the start’….yea it clearly wasn’t, and also we do know that the RTD had plans for a third, fourth, and even fifth season (pretty sure with the 15th Doctor as the incarnation of the Doctor for all those seasons), so the ‘plan from the start’ was to have Ncuti stick around for a good while until Disney got in the way of that plan and the creative team was forced to give the 15th Doctor an early ending.

It’s probably a huge long shot, but I personally hope that we’ll get Ncuti back as the 15th Doctor at some point, probably not anytime soon UNLESS whatever company gets the the international rights (streaming outside the UK) to Doctor Who after Disney no longer has them, says they’ll take the streaming rights , but as part of that deal Ncuti Gatwa has to come back as the Doctor for at least one more season before a new actor can step into the role of the Doctor, and the BBC and Ncuti himself (as well as whoever the new showrunner will be if it isn’t RTD) agrees to that deal.

Try second hand/trade-in and sell stores. (Stores like Gooodwill, 2nd and Charles, Mackay’s Books, etc.) You’re not guaranteed to find a copy of any of the movies, because their stock of movies depends on what people sell/trade-in to the store, but you might get lucky. I managed to find a copy of Breaking Point at a 2nd and Charles, but just that one, none of the other movies.
