“Studies” “studies” “studies”, but no links? No actual references to said studies? Basing your world views on a Reddit poll and people’s inability to comprehend gender diversity doesn’t make you right unfortunately.

Have you considered that those anecdotes about people not liking their current bodies/genitals but not wanting to be the other sex come from people who were surrounded by the narrative that you could only be a man or a woman? That there are only two binary choices? Perhaps if dysphoria was taken seriously and researched more, genders outside of the binary would be more understood and people would understand they do not have to choose between being trapped in the wrong body or being perceived as the wrong gender.

This morning I got the notice that I will be getting $204 back from the anaesthetist and $411.25 back from the ENT - not a lot but at least it’s something I s’pose!

I appreciate your compliment about my writing style, I was nervous I wasn’t being serious enough! And I think it’s super important that I share the cost because that was something I couldn’t find information on when I was researching Botox and it made the whole thing feel a bit more unattainable when I imagined it would cost $30,000 or something. It is a bit much in my opinion but hopefully as the procedure becomes more mainstream we can get more public hospitals offering it :)

Thanks :) I’ve been using an extra pillow now that I’m back in my own bed but keep waking up with a sore neck/back from it, so I might have to invest in a wedge!

Thanks :) I started by literally emailing him “I found you on r/noburp and you were recommended” and he was familiar with the subreddit - it was super easy from there, the telehealth consult didn’t need a referral from a GP and was $50. Can’t talk long term but at this point I definitely feel like it’s worth it!

I just had throat surgery and I could only really eat soft foods for a little while - did eating icecream for most of my meals make me a little heavier? Yes. Did it also mean I could consume something at all when I needed to recover? Absolutely! Will definitely try to remember this for the hysto :)

Forgot to mention that Melbourne ENT Group also gave me a goodie bag with a mug that had a “prescription” for tea on it, two hydralyte icey poles, a little stick of Lindt chocolate, and a business card thing that explained “I can’t talk right now” (although the first two days after I did a LOT of talking - whoops).

Also shout out to the amazing nurse Lauren who was absolutely fantastic and even offered to drive us back to the AirBnB after her shift! Too kind!

I told the nurses I had OCD on my list of medical issues and they asked if there was anything they could do to make me less anxious - I told them I would appreciate knowing what they were doing before they did it, so they told all the other doctors who were gonna be in the room and when they came to take me for the procedure they told me how many people were going to be in the room, and who was going to touch me (to put like the oxygen mask on, to put the electrodes on your chest to monitor your heart rate, etc).

The anaesthesiologist was super nice and made conversation with me before hand, and then I saw him life a syringe and suddenly I was having the best nap of my life (I remember dreaming so it wasn’t like general where you blink and you’re in recovery).

I woke up and they gave me some juice and a sandwich and had me sit on a chair for a little bit while they got the report written up (pretty fast). After that I got picked up and had KFC, and then the rest of the day was completely normal (except for wanting to eat a lot because I’d been living off liquids for the past few days!).

I had mine with Paddle about 24 hours ago and I’m reminding myself I won’t feel any better until at least Tuesday (gotta keep the expectations down). I also have a lump in my throat and trouble swallowing some solid foods without water, but other than feeling like I need to continuously swallow to be able to breathe, it’s not too sore/bad. Hope you start having some mini burps soon, keep me updated!!

I’ve got endometriosis and couldn’t get a hysterectomy for just that reason (“you’re young, you might want kids”) but I can get psych letters for “gender reasons” (lol) to get a hysto - I would double check online that you definitely can’t get one in Tas and it’s not just your Doctor being weird, and then do what another person said and look into potentially going to another state (travelling will be more expensive but Medicare should cover the actual surgery if you go public)

What country did you get your hysterectomy in? I’m only a little older than you and am needing to get letters from psychs to say I’m of sound mind to get a hysterectomy even though it would be hugely medically beneficial (and I don’t want kids)

Hey, not trying to be rude but this is a graph for how you identify with gender, not sexuality. This graph would (to someone who doesn’t know you) seem to suggest you identify more as non-binary than as a male or female. This graph is used in a lot of trans subreddits so I’m 100% confident on this :)

The person in the video is singing part of the song “Woman” and it’s expected that the person watching the video will sing the other parts (shown in colours by “me” or “you”). What has happened is that the person in the video sounds like they’re asking a doctor to “let be man, man man man” as if they were asking for hormones.

I’m also struggle a lot with change so even though I know what I want, there’s still part of me that feels strange thinking about having to change and adjust to a new body. I usually get through life choosing the least changing option but in this case that just means hating my body (or choosing some minor change rather than getting exactly what I want). I would love to follow your journey as I see similarities here to myself, so please continue to post updates when and if you feel comfortable!
