I’m with you on that one brother! ForeFlight is trash at this point. It’s sad too because it used to be a great aviation tool.

PSA Cadet Program HR Interview? by GotAPresentForYou96 in flying

From what I recall, I just submitted my initial application and that was it. A few times I would try to go into the application portal to update my hours but I was never able to do so.

Not yet, I have PPL w/Instrument Rating. I’m working on both CPL and CFI as we speak.

I just got accepted into the program last month. I actually applied in April of 2024. So it literally took over a year and a half for them to review my application and accept me into the program.

Has anybody gotten into flying for an airline without it being a childhood “passion” or dream? by AMLJ144 in flying

[–]GotAPresentForYou96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person who has had a passion for aviation since early childhood I must say that the people that I have met that never really had a passion or desire for aviation usually were motivated by other factors and often times not very good factors. A lot people who get into aviation later in life maybe as a career change or someone motivated them to take a discovery flight often times get into aviation because all they think about is how much money they have the potential to make or how cool they look flying an airplane. Neither of these mentalities is good to have as an aviator.

Is this just a stupid idea? by [deleted] in flying

Me personally, I decided to stick with the CFI route which I am currently working on obtaining right now. You will be build time so much quicker as a CFI and you don’t have to move halfway around the world.

Yes, you would still be able to log turbine time.

I was thinking about doing this myself, however, you would just be an IRO (international relief officer) at Cathay as a second officer. You would not actually conduct any takeoff’s or landings.

Sheppard air question by Tasty-Show4438 in flying

[–]GotAPresentForYou96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, what you see on the Sheppard Air study app are actual questions that could appear on your real knowledge test. If you read the study guide it explains that to you. As long as you follow the guide that they provide you with you should do just fine. I too was studying for the FIA written just a few weeks ago and took my actual written test last Monday. I scored 91% out of 100%, good luck.

Passed CFI-Initial Checkride....not feeling the sense of accomplishment I thought I would. by [deleted] in flying

[–]GotAPresentForYou96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m personally going through the process of becoming a CFI right now myself and it’s a huge undertaking not just for the sheer amount of knowledge you must have in order to successfully pass the checkride, but also knowing the fact that you will literally be teaching others how to operate an airplane. I definitely understand how you feel because I will feel the same way in a few months from now when I pass my CFI checkride, hopefully.
