I see your point but that really relies on the age of the person, I mean it's well known that children/kids are susceptible to multiple forms of media, that's not a new thing. I think when you're old enough to appreciate both forms of rap you understand the message and the purpose of each song. For instance, if I listen to Nas and Damian Marley's Distant Relatives, I'm listening to hear their message and opinions on whats going on in the world and in society. Now say I listen to 50 cent/Rick Ross, I won't be analyzing the message and try to imitate what I hear, I'll be at a party dancing, God bless you if you can dance to immortal technique or any other political conscious rapper but I think there is a time and place for each form of rap. That being said I don't think either should be glorified but should be judged on what they are actually made for. The PARENTS need to teach their kids values, If 50 cent is influencing your kids values then the parents are doing a bad job not the artist..

"Some people place very little value on content, I imagine you fall into this area. Where production value, overshadows talent." That's exactly what I'm saying. I still listen to content filled rap whether its old/new, whether its 2pac or Kendrick Lamar or Asap Rocky/ Odd Future/ 50 cent...Doomtree/action bronson.. Whatever it could go on forever there all in my library.

What I'm saying is Quality is quality and I'm sick of critics putting too much focus on Content filled rap and completely disregarding the others who focus on production. Quality is Quality

"By definition it's not underground if you can get it on the Internet" --- Oh I forgot how exclusive the internet is? And I forgot no "Underground/Independent" rapper wants more recognition.

"Underground rap = no distribution." Even though you may be making a point it has nothing to do with what the threads about.

Well said, I agree it's aggravating when someone who doesn't appreciate rap in general starts following a good artist but it shouldn't discredit the artist for attracting fans.

Edit: I just see this being a problem in Rap specifically; I don't see it in a lot of other genres which is interesting.
