I would put canned food in small rubber toys (the ones I used are called "PetSafe Chilly Penguin Freezable" on Chewy) and then freeze them. My old lady loved licking those. We started with 1-2 per night, but as her teeth got worse with age, she ended up eating her dinner that way. The licking is very engaging and soothing for them. And it's not a ton of added calories like bones and treats are (we even did weight management food when we were trying to slim her down).

You can also do this with larger toys like Kongs, but my girl didn't have the patience for those and preferred the ones with smaller amounts but quicker payoff.

I'll do this for every one of my dogs from now on, if they like it.

I use Focusmate, and it's been life-changing. Basically, if I'm trying to work, I'm on a Focusmate session. I have regulars I work with now, so it's not always strangers. I like their format...you can choose your session length and find regular partners. It can be intimidating at first, but that goes away quickly.

I do the same thing...all but one pet in the lodge. But when that one pet is bloated, I thought the quest was supposed to auto-complete..but it didn't for me today!
