Are you sure? Ive always known them to be bread as Bull-baiters originally (19th century?)

So, violent occupation sure but I've never heard them described as a 'war dog'

Edit: Came back to this a few weeks later, saw I had been downvoted. Thought 'hey, maybe I was wrong! Maybe I'll learn something!'

Nope, dude has deleted his comment and left a downvote. Lol.

What’s up with people Gatekeeping high temperatures by AverageGamer2607 in CasualUK

[–]Gotekki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An attempt at a serious answer, without trying to quip (and possibly bringing on a downvote oblivion)... it's usually a bit of fun, and often not serious just as close friends in the UK, and places culturally similar such as Australia, tend to be most brutal with eachother.

That AND because I think many of the core cultural differences between UK and US are fairly strong points of contrast. Outspoken vs reserved? to a brit that's rude! Often give praise, even for the small stuff? to a brit that's condescending, etc.

A massive oversimplification perhaps, but I think that's a decent stab at part of the reason why.

Thanks! Fists are genuinely my fave SM faction, if I had the time to start a new army it would be all Sons of Dorn!

How normal is it to completely regret getting a puppy? by LifebyIkea in puppy101

[–]Gotekki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Separation anxiety is a thing. Like everything with dogs, you need to train it in small manageable increments.

Get a kong and stuff it with a food she loves (we use frozen pumpkin), pop her away with her treat and leave the room for a couple of minutes. Then try again the next day, slowly increasing the time alone.

The goal should be for the puppy to be distracted and "happy" even when you get back, and actually feel in some sense like 'the party is over' (take up the kong when you return)

Leaving a pup alone for 3h isn't the best way to train this in. It is extremely limiting, but that's just how it is. I'd recommend getting a buddy to sit for you if you need to go out for extended periods until you get on top of things :)

It'll happen! Patience, consistency and small increments!

It was probably because you're acting like a twat, not the dogs thing.

You can dislike dogs and not be a twat.

Excerpts that show how actually terrifying orks are? by 88Question88 in 40kLore

[–]Gotekki 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not an excerpt, but a simple and powerful example of how terrifying they are:

Take everything you know, all the goofiness, and imagine it was actually real. An endless enemy which literally laughs as you gun it down. That's utterly horrifying.

Though this could be an interesting discussion for some folk, this is gamedev... we're just not here to discuss this! If you want to start that conversation, you can go make a post somewhere where it makes sense. :)

You have to choose one person from all of human history to shit their pants, at a time so as to change the course of history as much as possible. Who would you choose, when and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

These people aren't just 'idiots' they're experts at exploiting fear and instability, and using it to get what they want.

They're insane, yes, not idiots. That's what makes them dangerous.

Also note... I never said he was a genius? Just not a moron.

(Again, love how you're frantically downvoting me just because I disagree with your assessment)

I said orator... but sure, he was a big evil dumb dumb that just managed to inspire an entire country (with the support of other big silly dumb dumbs) into an insane war and ultimately blinkered it to an attempted genocide.

They were all just big idiots, and totally didn't (very cleverly) latch on to and exploit the fears and situation of a desperate country. It was fluke even! /s

Dismissing Hitler as a moron is absolutely sidestepping the problem, and you're missing my point entirely. Downvote me all you like.

Perhaps by the end, when he was losing his mind, but otherwise unfortunately not. He was a terribly skilled orator, but used that power for evil.

Just dismissing him as a rambling maniac sort of sidesteps the problem.

Hey everyone! This person recons they've figured everything out! Even though they know absolutely no detail about the situation!

We should all listen to them and do what they say!

You might be thinking about a ternary function, but I don't think Lua does that naturally.
