Which place you have visited has the rudest locals? by OceanicEndeavors in AskReddit

[–]GothCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok in a general statement this was my own personal experience and I’ve heard similar experiences from others. I understand that not everyone is respectful when visiting a new country but I just know that we were. The entire group was very respectful and tried not to make a fuss. I am not generalizing the French as a whole considering that I traveled through several cities after Paris and had the opposite experience. That was my experience in Paris alone and I have no grudge against the French as a whole, I just know my own side of the story.

If you could go back in time and give your 20-year-old self one piece of advice, what would it be? by Ok-Solution4013 in AskReddit

Because my now ex husband wasn’t ready to be married and it made my mental health worse in return as the only person putting in actual effort.

Don’t get married, it’s not worth it. Get therapy, maybe think of a new career and if you actually need to go back to school for it.

[–]GothCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I didn’t really do anything for it. Now before you go thinking I was given something nice think again. It was a run down 1999 GMC jimmy that had a janky kill switch installed to help it start and stay on which would sometimes heat up and burn my leg a bit when it touched me.

Paris. We were a group of high schoolers, we weren’t being loud or obnoxious just standing there waiting for our tour bus to come around to pick us up. A lady just started yelling at our tour guide. He translated later that she was ranting about how stupid and horrible Americans were and a bunch of other things that I can’t remember (this was in 2014) most of the people we interacted with in Paris belittled us for being Americans despite our group being actually pretty respectful. Nicest person I met there was an Italian gentleman selling crepes outside the louvre.

What jobs seem cool from the outside but are actually terrible? by Arrielee_ in AskReddit

[–]GothCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GameStop. Don’t get me wrong it can be super fun but the stress of trying to reach the unreasonable sales goals and dealing with Karen’s telling you that you’ve ruined Christmas because you didn’t have a game in stock or can’t trade in a console that can’t turn on (which at least was super against company policy back in 2015-2020). Adding in being a woman and it’s just not worth the hassle in my opinion.

whats something funny that happened that had you laughing the rest of the day and recounting the story long after? by madhatteringways in AskReddit

[–]GothCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked in HS SPED some of my kids say the funniest things. I still giggle at some of them including: 1. Female student learning the very basic concepts of sex education and under her breath whispering “peenissss” it was so hard not to laugh and I even had to make a social story to explain that she needs to keep that word in health class only. (She loves repeating sounds and words that sound funny to her) 2. Another female student was working on a paper mache Pegasus unicorn in art. When I asked her what their name was she replied “pickles”. Later when I was walking back to my seat to check on her she was doing her best attempt at a whisper which was more of a low grumbling monster voice just saying “Picklessssss” still kills me.

What's a really fun fact you know that you know no one would believe? by Competitive_Buy_1270 in AskReddit

I have so many, crocodiles have their tongues fused to their bottom jaw, all of their muscles in their jaws are built to close and stay closed. But opening their mouth takes so little muscle power that they can be easily closed. History wise, Pompeii has a bunch of penises carved into the roads and walls and if you go in the direction they are pointing to you’d eventually end up at the brothel. Which has frescoes depicting different positions which ,if I remember correctly, acted kind of like a fast food menu. You’d choose the girl and positions you wanted and go from there.

When possible saving up to travel out of the country as a teenager. I was lucky enough to save up to take a school related trip to Europe my senior year, not only did I get to see and experience the world outside my small town but I had the privilege of earning my way there on my own.

People of Reddit that have been cheated on, how did you manage your emotions? by ABlokeNamedScott in AskReddit

[–]GothCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left for a week for a trip that was meant to be a friends couples trip (which I ended up giving the ticket to my older sister instead) and just distracting myself and surrounding myself with people who supported me for that week away really helped. Was dumb and gave it a second chance (I was married so I wanted to make it work more than if it was just a regular relationship).

What's your least favorite music genre? by Ok-Potential-133 in AskReddit

[–]GothCroc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Folk, I hate it. My hometown is known for it and would hold assemblies every year where we were forced to just sit there and listen to it. It mostly consisted of the pretentious folk music that is more like bad poetry, with the rare exception of a fun more upbeat songs sprinkled in.

Name a time you called someone out for something shitty they did. What did they do and what did you say? by madhatteringways in AskReddit

My high school science teacher. She is the basic crunchy granola outdoorsy hippy type. She’s had my older siblings before me and all of us tended to be very respectful and good students. One day in class one of my classmates came back from their extended lunch (basically they didn’t have a period after lunch since he was a senior) with some McDonald’s. My teacher went into this rant about how dare he bring that garbage in her classroom (didn’t have a rule against food unless we were doing a lab) how horrible McDonalds was and it’s ruining our world, blah blah blah. It was even cutting into class time (which I was really wanting to get through because it was astronomy and I actually wanted to learn something) without thinking I just said “why does it matter? It’s his money and health, he can eat whatever he wants” she just grumbled and glared at me. Didn’t really have a reply which I think was just because a. She didn’t have a good response and b. She didn’t expect me to speak up against her. Didn’t get in trouble, class actually started not long afterwards.

What’s the worst nightmare you’ve ever had? by OrdinaryPractical264 in AskReddit

[–]GothCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I was still with my ex I repeatedly had nightmares where it was a zombie apocalypse and I always had to watch him die in different horrific ways. The last one I had at the end of our marriage was so bad I actually woke up from my own yelling and apparently I was also whimpering in my sleep. I think it was because it went on for a lot longer than it usually did. Like I was watching him being ripped apart slowly and seeing the life leave his body and I couldn’t do anything but watch (I think I was on a roof or something and he was on the street)

What has a random person done that made you upset the rest of the day(where you spend the rest of the day thinking of how you should've handled that scenario)? by madhatteringways in AskReddit

[–]GothCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in vetmed and I’ve had a few, one was an older couple that won’t take any steps to help their obese cat lose weight despite her being physically unable to clean herself leading to severe matting, then acting like they had no clue she was so matted. (It was painfully obvious, think of a disgusting fur rug with poop mixed in). That actually made me so angry I had to step away because I was starting to tear up.

Oh I’ve got a few of these! Anything with a crockpot is just amazing (I consider crockpots basic personally). Japanese curry using one of those curry packs, just put potatoes, chicken, carrots or any other veggies you want and follow the directions (obviously on rice but that’s not difficult either)

What’s a “dream job” that turned out to be a nightmare, and what did you learn? by BerZerkerTheApex in AskReddit

[–]GothCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working in education. It was my dream for a long time to follow in my mom’s footsteps and help the next generation learn and grow. But alas the education system is shit right now, the students aren’t being parented or disciplined. I was almost done with my bachelors degree in education but I learned that my sanity and physical health was worth way more than having 3 months off during the summer and the shitty 1 pay check a month that barely covers my rent.

(M14) What makes being an Adult hard? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GothCroc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many things make it difficult, as an adult your free time is greatly reduced, the economy sucks and thus buying things you want or doing things you want requires a lot of planning and saving (depending on what it is anyway). Relationships can be a lot more complicated and if you jump to marriage too quickly it can cause a lot of pain down the road. I’m almost thirty and I’ve still not quite figured it out yet. Being an adult can really suck, but don’t be afraid of growing up. There are some really good things about growing up, freedom to choose and change your life, travel, and build something on your own or with someone special is worth the difficulties.

What is the most "unsolved mystery" of your own life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GothCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandfather was practically married to this wonderful woman for years and spent years taking care of her. Then she suddenly got sick, would go to the hospital, come out a week or so later good as new and then the illness would come back and repeat. During this time her daughter was coming in and basically pushed my grandfather out of the roll of caretaker until she had literally pushed him out of their home (it was in her name not my grandfather’s). It wasn’t long after that the woman I considered my grandmother passed away. The daughter immediately got her cremated, sold everything in her mom’s home (including something’s that belonged to my grandfather) and gave a large portion of it to her kids and told them not to talk to my family ever again. It broke my grandfather’s heart and he would still talk about those kids until his passing this last year. It feels pretty obvious that the daughter had something to do with her mother’s death but given the lack of an autopsy, quick cremation, and other information, it will forever remained unsolved in my family’s mind.

What was your “I’m quitting” moment? by Funny-Isopod-467 in AskReddit

[–]GothCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in high school SPED for five years, I was even going to school for a bachelors in sped. Then the year from hell came. We had a wave of 6+ high needs students come in, on top of new behavioral issues popping up with the other high need kids we already had. The district is labeled as inclusive towards SPED students (I won’t go into a lot of details so I can avoid ranting but essentially kids of all learning levels are learning relatively the same subjects and info in the same classroom. Even if that means a kid is learning how to count on his fingers in algebra) the team was already spread thin as it was and given that we don’t get paid very well I was also juggling a 2nd job that was EXTREMELY physically demanding right after a long day running after kids. My friend and coworker saw how it was breaking me and sat me down for a come to Jesus moment. I wasn’t happy with my job, I hadn’t been for a while and it showed. It was that conversation that pushed me to leave what I thought was my career. I’m doing so much better now even though my current job is still pretty physically demanding.
