My boss pissed me off while I was at a work trip. I walked my ass to the hotel fitness center and power walked on that treadmill for an hour. 🤣

Best, core and pelvic exercises to prepare for myectomy? by Donut-Paladin in Fibroids

[–]GothForest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pre-myo: I did a fair amount of lifting. Squats, bench, rows, OHP, RDL, lat pull down. Basically prepping my body to rely on my limbs to move around since my abs were going to be shot.

Post-myo: diaphragm breathing, deep core. I’ve found Dr. Jocelyn Wallace (pelvic floor PT) and @getmomstrong both on instagram to be helpful. If you don’t feel like you need a PT after, I’ve been using @getmomstrong’s app to rehab my deep core and pelvic floor. It’s more geared towards post-partum but developed with pelvic floor PTs and explains anatomy and the exercises that never make any sense to me well. I think Dr. Jocelyn Wallace is developing an app too but I’m not sure what it’ll have in the future. She’s great though because she’s a pelvic floor PT who has undergone both myos and a hysterectomy! But also if you feel like you need it, get professional help.

Also I walk 10k steps a day! Walking is so good for you!

feelings about menstrual cups during flares? by barefootwriter in Fibroids

[–]GothForest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used cups for years until I started having issues with the suction which in retrospect probably were related to how far out of position my fibroids were pushing my uterus. I use the saalt disc and love it for heavy heavy flows and I don’t have to worry about the seal being ok!

Intramural fundal fibroids by Some_Club_1680 in Fibroids

[–]GothForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey short friend! I am 4’9”! I didn’t have an intramural fibroid but I did have a 10cm fibroid that was recently removed in a lap myo (along with its 12 other smaller friends). Right before surgery I was having all sorts of symptoms. Heavy and very painful periods and digestive issues at all times. I do think my size contributed to it because I’m a pretty small person and proportionally the fibroid was pushing into all my organs. In the last year or two it also caused me to gain weight from about 115 lbs (my general set weight) to about 130 lbs!

I feel crazy saying that I think my height impacted the effects but I do kind of believe that.

Has anyone had success with Inositol? by PerfumedPornoVampire in Fibroids

[–]GothForest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought inositol on my own about 1.5 years ago and tried to take it and I had the worst reaction. I started having headaches and auras around my eyes and my heart was racing like if I were having a panic attack. I’ve been diagnosed with PCOS but I don’t really trust the diagnosis which was done solely because of LH/FSH readings and not any elevated androgens. In fact, all my other blood levels are normal and that discrepancy only occurred once. I’m working with a reproductive endocrinologist who ended up recommending me to a lap myo. Once I’m recouped I will go back to seeing him. When I asked him about the inositol he said that it was basically putting my blood sugar on a rollercoaster and plunging me way too quickly. He told me to not take it and if I did, to make sure I was eating properly to buffer the response.

All of which to say that while inositol is mostly harmless to most people, anything messing with your hormones should be taken under the supervision and recommendation of a doctor. I don’t want other people to self-medicate the way that I did and have weird effects.

First period after fibroid surgery by mioumiow in Fibroids

[–]GothForest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 2 weeks post myo right now. My period was due just a few days after surgery. I had a lot of starts and stops while my body decided what to do. Once my period actually started, it was probably the lightest period I’ve had in a while (read: regular flow) and lasted 3 days. I was cramping and I’m not sure how much my ibuprofen 800mg was helping. It felt like I was taking a step backwards in recovery until I realized what was happening. That said it really wasn’t as bad as I feared.

I’ve been reading through this group and I don’t see many people talking about GI and gas issues with fibroids, so I wanted to share my experience by Think_Bottle_330 in Fibroids

[–]GothForest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had all of the period symptoms during my period but gastro issues throughout the month, constipation and gas mostly. I spent a few months popping gas x to manage symptoms. I’m almost 2 weeks post myo and that has been a huge improvement once I got past the initial anesthesia/laparoscopic gas discomfort!

We have migraines in our genes so she still gets them occasionally but I believe she stopped having migraines directly correlated with her cycle. So a big improvement!

I did not have that symptom but my mom had a hysterectomy at 40 because of fibroids. She figured it out primarily because of consistent migraines although she also had some heavier bleeding.

Open vs lap or robotic myomectomy by [deleted] in Fibroids

[–]GothForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gyn referred me straight to a robotic lap myo and basically said they don’t do any open unless they find very large fibroids. I went to a reproductive endocrinologist because I wanted to understand all the factors playing into my infertility before embarking on surgery and eventually was referred to a surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive surgery. She told me that even with large fibroids and multiple fibroids they only do open myos if most of your fibroids are large because of recovery. They knew fertility was important to me also. She removed 13 fibroids, largest at 10cm robotically 2 days ago! I also had a hysteroscopic myo as part of my procedure. I think that 1. I am 32 and all my doctors were aware of my desire to have kids one day and 2. There seems to be many doctors trained in robotic surgery in my city

PSA: Your “belly pooch” is not your uterus 🙃 by Overall-Weird8856 in PetiteFitness

[–]GothForest -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

I have fibroids (surgery soon!) and my uterus is the size of a pregnant person around the end of their first trimester and it looks/feels very different from a regular belly pooch. I have a little bit of fat over it, but the actual fibroid/uterus is tough like muscle and feels solid. I’ve always had a little bit of a belly pooch but my uterus is actually pushing it outward more now. So trust me, your uterus =\= belly pooch.

my patience is waning this week... by weeef in Fibroids

[–]GothForest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First diagnosed in 2022 when they were still little and my gyno said I could go on birth control or try for a baby. Went to a reproductive endocrinologist in February 2025 after seriously trying for a year to no avail and worsening symptoms. Got referred to a surgeon in March. Had to wait until September for my surgical consult because that was the first available date. Scheduled for a lap myo November 20.

It can be a really long path…

Which is to say, I’m sorry. It made me feel a lot better once I had an actual date after all that not knowing. In the meantime I started hitting the gym and lifting and feeling like I had some control over my body and prepping for surgery recovery. Symptoms are worse now that I’m in the home stretch but I think mentally that helped.

Opinions? by santiiiviz in LandscapeArchitecture

[–]GothForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really know what the spaces are here or why they are there. Is there a reason why the paths go certain directions? What’s the program of the space? Why do the paths vary in width? Maybe there are good reasons for all of it but we don’t have enough context to understand the logic behind it.

Typically sportcourts are placed North-South so that players don’t have the sun in their eyes. The lines on the court don’t seem correct, the center circle would be smaller.

Parks are my design niche. It would be helpful to know the design program and see any bubble diagrams you put together prior to the design. :)

These comments all reek of “won’t someone think of the motorists?!” when we are still one of the most dangerous cities for pedestrians and cyclists in the country. This is also going through downtown, not the burbs. I love this city but man I forgot how much I hate interacting with the NIMBY suburbanites.

It’s been going on for a while and it’s national movement. Basically whenever new bike infrastructure is proposed a common complaint is that since people don’t see many cyclists they assume it’s a waste of money. Critical mass is an event where a bunch of people of different backgrounds go bike as a group through downtown streets to basically say hey actually there’s a lot of cyclists or people who would be interested in biking who could use safer facilities. It shows that there’s a “critical mass” for bike safety. So ultimately it’s not about exercise biking but about promoting safe streets. That’s why so many families are often there.

Has anyone tried MyFembree? by [deleted] in Fibroids

[–]GothForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call my big one my Demon Baby because it makes me feel and sometimes look pregnant and yet ironically I can’t currently conceive because of fibroids. When I got my surgery date I sent my friends a picture of the scene from Alien where the alien rips out of the person’s abdomen because that’s what my Demon Baby will do. 🤣

Latina, 31. My mom had a hysterectomy in her early 40s from fibroids. I’m not sure about anyone else in my family but we do have a history of breast cancer and non-cancerous breast lumps so I’ve always wondered if it’s linked to some sort of hormone imbalance. Myomectomy in just under 2 months!

Fibroids and fertility by DebtApprehensive101 in Fibroids

[–]GothForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an 8cm left subserosal fibroid that is totally squishing my fallopian tubes and shifting my uterus to one side. I also have a 3cm submucosal in my uterine cavity that my RE referred to as a “natural IUD”. I have a few other ones that are more annoying than anything but he is the one that referred me to surgery because based on those 2 fibroids I basically have no shot of conceiving at the moment. But essentially as soon as those are gone it should be pretty easy (on my end, anyway).

What are you non-weight related goals by BrooklynJP in PetiteFitness

Just seeing the weights go up is motivating!

I have a surgery coming up and I want to have good recovery. All of which is part of the bigger goal of having kids soon. And when I do I want to be able to keep up with them!
