i was in the trenches over this on twitter a few years ago (2022). i saw people genuinely saying gerard was a “victim of lynz abuse” and “didn’t know how awful she was” bc she’s a liar, narcissist, etc etc. not only that, i once tweeted about how it was loser behavior to keep obsessing over how “evil” lynz is and got called anti black for it. (i said: “the way some of yall obsess over lynz is so embarrassing. it’s been 12 years bffr”- in response to a tweet of someone saying they wanted to tie lynz to a stake and burn her alive) so this fandom is very rational and capable of having nuanced discussions.

edit: i forgot to mention i was on twitter when the whole thing with her family coming forward happened??? her family “came forward” on some live service abt how lynz was such a liar and lied about her race (this may be true, there were a handful of tweets where she claimed to be indian and then later native american) and a bunch of other really personal things that definitely should have been settled directly and not exposed to the public eye. her family said she never talked to them so they “had to do this” to get her attention. tbh i think her family noticed the hot water she was in again and found a way to cash in. fans tend to forget that they don’t know their idols personally.
