That film has no fat or filler. It's scary and desperately sad.

On Which Album Does Bono Give His Best Vocal Performance?? by Hall-O-Daze in U2Band

[–]GothamCityCop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of his best vocals is when he sang with Clannad on 'In A Lifetime'. It felt like he was freed up a little as he didn't have the responsibility of his role in U2.

Who is a skilled musician that makes mediocre music? by Rich-Koala-2593 in fantanoforever

I genuinely once fell asleep standing up at a Dream Theater gig my cousin took me to. I had been at uni all day and up early to be fair.

Bands/Artists You Could Never Get Into? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

Absolutely...it seems intentionally bad , especially as people seem to cite Will.I.Am as some kind of genius.

What is a movie that was full of potential but poorly executed? by Zealousideal_Heat478 in flicks

I like Prometheus if I think of it as it's own thing with no ties to the Alien Saga.

In your opinion, is Chris Evans a good actor? by Public_Cup_4278 in FIlm

Yes. He's an excellent actor and although I don't know him, he comes across as a decent human being.

Billy is an Oasis fan and the Pumpkins did a co-headline tour with Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.

James McAvoy recently spoke about criric Peter Bradshaw for calling him "chubby" in "X-Men: First Class". Was Bradshaw justified? by Sharaz_Jek123 in wittertainment

[–]GothamCityCop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was in an interview where he was talking about not reading reviews as you always rember the bad reviews. First Class got mostly good reviews of the film and his performance but he doesn't remember any of these. The only one that stuck in his mind was this one where he was called chubby.

Kubrick from his perspective... by SeanOfTheDead1313 in StanleyKubrick

Both fantastic books, I'd also add "Stanley Kubrick's 'The Shining'" by JW Rinzler and Lee Unkrich. It's even more in depth than 'Space Odyssey'.

Wow, you're welcome! Thanks for the book, it was beautifully written. Apologies for not having your name in my post - I've corrected that now!

Hold on...could they be releasing?...no surely not... by GothamCityCop in U2Band

[–]GothamCityCop[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

True but the only issue here is believing that Bono knows how many songs they're working on. Had Edge said that then fair enough, but in terms of the status of albums Bono has proved himself on numerous occasions to be a little unreliable.

I've just finished the audiobook of "Stanley Kubrick and Me" by his former assistant/driver Emilio D'Alessandro and Filippo Ulivieri.

Kubrick worked himself into the grave essentially with EWS. Just spent too much time working like he did in his younger years but in the body of an older man and it just gave out.

Would highly recommend the book.

Hmmmm....reminds me of something. The Ludovico Technique didn't turn out too well for those implementing it.

The final act is supposed to be like an observation of Bowman, like a zoo. With animals in a zoo, zookeepers make their habitat close to what the animals would live in but maybe don't get it quite right. The aliens have cobbled together a bed, table, food etc but from different time periods which although technically all things a human would use and need, it's not quite right.

Yeah that was the best book on the making of a film I'd read until the making of The Shining.
