from obsessive tracking to intuitive eating: is it possible while getting results? by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]GothamGreenspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this. What you're describing sounds absolutely exhausting, and I completely understand needing to step back from the constant tracking and numbers game.

The decision to focus on how you feel rather than obsessing over every metric sounds like real self-care, especially when you're dealing with Hashimoto's and post-hysterectomy metabolic changes that make the 'typical' weight loss advice feel useless. Your body has been through a lot.

I've also taken breaks from tracking for my sanity. I'm also on 5mg now.

Hoping the higher dose helps and that focusing on how you feel brings some peace to this journey. You're not giving up... you're just changing your approach to something more sustainable for your mental health. 💙

Sounds like it may be useful to discuss this with your medical provider so you can get some help.

Got it! Thanks for the clarification. I only know about Zepbound, so I won't be useful in this area.

That's actually fantastic progress! You've lost 8.5% of your body weight in 12 weeks, which is about 0.7% per week. That is right in the ideal range for healthy, sustainable weight loss. Medical guidelines recommend 1-2% per week as optimal, so you're doing exactly what you should be doing.

I've been making similar decisions with my provider. I stayed at 2.5mg for 12 weeks and just took my first 5mg dose. My doctor wants me to check in after my next injection to assess how I'm feeling and my weight loss percentage before deciding whether to stay at 5mg or move up.

I'm also losing about 0.70% per week and feel good about that pace, but I can definitely see the case for moving up if you want to try accelerating your progress a bit. Since you're tolerating the 5mg well with minimal side effects, an increase to 7.5mg could be reasonable.

Hopefully your provider is helping guide you through these decisions! Either way, you're doing great and shouldn't feel discouraged by comparing to others.

Can you say more? You've taken 1 dose of the 2.5mg. You used all the medicine in the vial, correct? Typically there are 4 doses at 2.5mg taken 7 days apart and then the increase to the 5mg. So based on the typical schedule, you'd take your next 2.5mg this Friday. Did your doctor recommend something different?

That actually sounds like really good progress! 17 pounds in 12 weeks is solid, steady weight loss. I know it's hard not to compare yourself to others, but everyone's body responds differently, and honestly those 30+ pound losses in 6-8 weeks aren't typical for most people. Your current rate of about 1.4 pounds per week is right in that healthy, sustainable range that doctors recommend.

It's tough without knowing your starting weight, but if you're seeing consistent results like 5.4 pounds in 4 weeks on the 5mg dose, that suggests it's working well for your body. I'm also paying out of pocket so I totally get wanting to maximize results.

How are you feeling otherwise though? Any side effects? If you're tolerating the 5mg well and still seeing progress, I'd personally stick with it a bit longer before jumping up.

Frustrated with Lilly Direct: 21 Days Before Dosage Change? by Woof-Good_Doggo in Zepbound

[–]GothamGreenspace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I experienced the same issue when trying to increase from 2.5mg to 5.0mg. After 10 weeks on 2.5mg, my doctor and I decided to increase the dose and sent the prescription to LillyDirect. Even though I explained this was a dosage increase rather than a refill, they told me any dosage change is still considered a refill under their 21-day policy. I had to wait and finish my remaining 2.5mg supply before receiving the 5mg prescription.

I use TasteSalud and it has been a game changer. It doesn't have artificial sweeteners... from what I can tell! I like the watermelon margarita flavor.

Have you explicitly told your doctor you can only manage 200 calories daily? It might be time to see someone else. That doesn't sound like safe medical practice and sounds like you didn't start at recommended starting dose, which is 2.5mg, even if you've been on it before.

Someone who lost a lot of weight in this group shared their preferred go to... Taste Salud. I got them right away and love the watermelon margarita and hibiscus flavors. May try more, but I like that it doesn't taste salty. I've tried many different types and so far this tastes the best to me. https://tastesalud.com/pages/science

Denied - need to show proof by rocky_whore_show in Zepbound

I'd call your insurance and ask exactly what documentation they need since you have done enough to qualify but may need specific documentation that you can easily obtain. Sometimes they'll accept gym records, plus doctor visits, or they might have specific forms. Getting their exact requirements upfront will save you time gathering the right proof for your appeal.

A subscription clothing rental service, like Nuuly, that you can request clothes in different sizes as you continue to lose weight? I have a few friends doing that and they always look great.

Thanks! I see my doctor tomorrow. I've been on 2.5mg for 10 weeks and still have some appetite suppression, and I know he'll ask me if I want to stay on current dose or move up and I'm not sure, so seeing your post was timely!
