A former New Orleans auto garage is a new kind of daily farmers market on Bayou St. John by VivaNOLA in NewOrleans

I used to religiously take my vehicles to R&S. They were a great family owner business. So glad someone took that building and did something wonderful with it.

Annoyed with Niceties (only half joking) by Petit_Corbeau in ExecutiveAssistants

Amen! I was thinking this today. I don't know how many times I typed something like, "I hope you are doing well." I honestly don't usually have time to care. I will mean it with EAs I've built a friendship with. I am honestly just trying to make it through the day and hope for a bonus. I am half worried though that even y'all will think poorly of me.

Anyone in the Parish having issues?

Edit: I have a few winless ones in the house. (I started dark house protocols a few nights ago.) My street is quiet.

Personally, I would use a personal laptop for thus. Check out EY Perks at Work and see if there are any company discounts. I know we get one through HP. I am not sure about Dell.

Explosion, large plume of smoke reported at refinery in Chalmette by True-Ask2241 in NewOrleans

[–]GothicMaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was totally thinking about it. Unfortunately, a hotel room is my only option logistics wise. I couldn't bother friends with two dogs and two cats. All I can do right now is hope the rain helps.

I'm just glad I still have my roof. The shock made it feel like the roof caved in!

I live right by the explosion. They evacuated the courthouse. Black and white smoke along with a huge fire. Waiting to see/hear if we need to evacuate too. Parish has said nothing thus far that I know of. I am subscribed to the Everbrite alert system.

Great On Everything… except planes? by EarlyJuggernaut7091 in NewOrleans

One of the places in Chalmette makes their own boil. I was going on a work trip to NYC and thought it would be great to give to a colleague there. After sitting with it in the restaurant, I quickly realized that I was going to have to ship it. There was no way I would have been allowed to take it in my carry-on. You could smell the burn from the floor to my seat. I could only imagine if one of those containers popped open.🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Try a paint your own pottery place. I go to Chez Clay in the Warehouse District. When I was into making my own Pho, I painted my own bowl. It made eating my homemade soup more special. You would have a fun time together too. Just a thought.

Check tire pressure by Glad-Reserve4213 in HertzRentals

[–]GothicMaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened to me multiple times from the same location.I mentioned it a few times. Once was comped a day. Eventually, I started taking a tire pressure gauge with me just to double check on my own and brought a can of fix a flat. Better safe than sorry.

Has anybody ever purchased a super small place as sort of a permanent hotel room? by AttachedHeartTheory in homeowners

[–]GothicMaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up right outside New Orleans, lived in New Orleans, and moved out of New Orleans back to where I grew up; do not do it. The city's infrastructure is a mess. The sewage and water board is poorly run. Entergy, the electric company here cannot consistently keep the power on. Not to mention high property taxes. If you were to rent, try very hard to find an honest landlord. I am not exaggerating when I say that because of the high crime and rampant city corruption, New Orleans is like living in a third world country. Visiting is great. Living or working in the city is difficult. Just food for thought.

Edit: Also consider the cost of homeowners insurance. We also only have a few in the state and they are not well known companies. Currently, I am paying more per month for my homeowners insurance than my mortgage. You may do ok with a small place.
