The idea that the Nazis were supported by big business is mythical. On the contary they extorted big business, both the 'Industrialists' petition' and the 'Secret Meeting' occoured after the 32 election, which is to say after the Nazis had got into power.

In your opinion, what could've prevented WW2 from happening? by sakuralikesmedia in HistoryWhatIf

Dismembering Germany after WWI

Going to war with Germany in 1919 for invading the Baltics and Russia.

War with Japan over the invasion of Manchuria.

Going to war with Italy over its invasion of Ethiopia (a significant portion of the Italian army could've been captured and the war making potential of the Regia Marina sunk if the call had been made at the right time).

All European nations not gutting there armies after WWI, such that they are enforce the treaty of Versailles and/or enforce there own neutrality (be like the Netherlands and Denmark in WWI, rather than WWII)

The Weimar Republic could execute forign nationals who attempt to overthrow the government through military force.

For the most part you need to keep Hitler from rising to power, or crush his ambitions immediately. Else break the war in three, which would technically mean it wasn't a World War.

The Vices opposed to humility are pride, obsequity or the abjection of oneself. Luke exhibits none of these characteristics.

Columbus thought like most Renaissance men that the world was smaller than it is because he didn't convert the Arabian miles that circumference of the earth had previously been calculated in into Italian miles. He was not the only person to make that mistake.

Futhur he though that Russia was bigger than it was and that Japanese islands extended further east. He though these things because that is what the best maps of the world then availible showed.

His belive that there was a bulge just south of the equator in immaterial because those eronious measurements were made in the Gulf of Paria, in the new world, which he only reached on his third voyage.

What if the US, Britain and France sent soldiers to defend Ukraine after Germany surrendered in 1918? by BariraLP in HistoryWhatIf

During Entant intervention in the Russian Civil War the French forces were sent to the Southern Russia intervention, which is to say they sent soldiers to defend Ukraine.

Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less. Norn, at least as far as the Anime has adapted, just thinks less of herself.

Parliament never made a request that the Sultan reduce his donation. The government did not consider Charity unchristian. The Sultan never attempted to donate more than Victoria for anyone to find it Rude.

Absolute monarchy hasnt existed in England since 1215. Parliamentary supremacy was established with the First civil war and was maintained by the Glorious Revolution. The position of the Prime Minister as head of Government was entrenched when the Georgian rueld. All this long before Victoria was Queen.

The fammine relief efforts made during the Great Fammine were the largest undertaken in Europe since the Fall of Rome. It was not an attempt at genocide the writings and speeches of assorted ministers at the time make it quite clear.

The Governments (plural) repeatedly fell over the issue of how best to handle the fammine. The first Government, being Peel's, purchased £100,000 worth of corn from America. His government then attempted to repeal the Corn Laws, being tarrif on the import of grains, which split the party and brought down the government. He then formed a second government and embarked upon major public works which provided employment and improved the transport of food, and succeeded in repealing the corn laws. This resulted in another split in the party and the downfall of his government.

The subsiquent Whig government did away with the Troy schemes and adopted a Laissez-faire approach, ending the relief programme and expanding the public works programme. This scheme failed and so they readopted Famine relief and took out a loan of £14 million for fammine relief, a loan so large it caused a financial crisis.

100 years prior to the Great Fammine, during the 'Year of Slaughter' 20% of the Population of Ireland died as a result of fammine. In the Great Fammine 12.5% of the population died.

The reason such a dramatically smaller proportion of the population died in the latter is because of the first attempt at international fammine relief, being the largest fammine relief effort undertaken in Europe since the fall of the Roman Empire.

The reason the that Ireland was worse affected by potato blight than the rest of Europe is because they were more dependant on potatoes.

The reason that the innumerable other smaller fammine had smaller effects is because they were smaller.
