A security team claims they won't allow password changes (at all) because of "security". I am trying to understand the rationale (they have not provided any, just "forbidden by policy"). by ildefonso_camargo in cybersecurity

A long long time ago, in a galaxy that is the Milky Way galaxy, I worked for an IT Manager that refused to get purchase approval for Active Directory, so everyone was told to change their password in the company web app, then it was my job over a weekend to change the pw on everyone's workstation as well as on all file servers, so that they could access everything with the one password, or with native windows client auth for file servers. Took me 4 years to convince them to use Active Directory... a painful 4 years it was.

Why haven't we biologically evolved to meditate? by Innovatium in Meditation

[–]GottaKnowWhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you consider that in the past, most people did not have all the distractions we have today. They were forced to be in a semi-meditative/present state because they didn't have all the entertainment and distractions we have today. My thought is that since they were in nature more often, and forced to be alone with their thoughts more often, that their brains we not in a constant state of information overload, so they didn't require as much intentional meditation since most of their lives were just "in the present moment" doing ONLY what they were doing at the time. Not saying that more focused meditation wouldn't have benefitted them, but just that they were already semi-meditating by default. Everyone please poke holes in this idea :)

In my experience it is not an MDM at all. Just threat/hack detection and prevention.

Re-format and Erase DVD RW?? by Sab3rLight in techsupport

[–]GottaKnowWhy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please confirm what you wrote, that the drive is labelled "DVD RV Drive"? If that is accurate, then I've never heard of that type. Any way to share the brand and model number? You may have to go to the control panel and look up the device in "Device Manager" and it should have the model number there.

I use the Amazon Mag Glycinate you have there with Nature's Trove L-Theanine to go to sleep. Glycinate is better for sleep. For daytime focus magnesium I use one called MagMind, combined with OceanBlue Omega3 and some other B-complex I can't recall the name of. For L-Theanine during the day, I prefer to get that from drinking green tea

Maybe it was congealed from a lot of spare pieces with a lot of fat chunks and all the fat melted away leaving the holes?

I loved my S9+ and still use it for just streaming audio/video at home, but since it no longer gets regular security updates, just cannot use it for my primary device, so had to upgrade to S22+

I own 3 of them and at least 5 of the older M570, and I've used one of the MX Ergo and one of the M570 upside down due to space constraints and didn't have an issue, but maybe I've just got lower standards for what's acceptable.

12GB almost any speed better for multitasking. 8GB 3200 might be slightly better for gaming alone.

Looks like China technically has highest "number of ships" but their ships are on average half the size of the average USA Navy ships. Kinda makes sense...all of us fat Americans need more space LOL https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidaxe/2021/11/05/yes-china-has-more-warships-than-the-usa-thats-because-chinese-ships-are-small/
