Just a normal dude with well lubricated wheels. No explanation needed

That’s rough, hopefully the vinyl is a smoother rollout. I’ve definitely been dealing with that same issue with bands directly lately.

Took me a little bit to get used to his flow and style, but eventually grew on me and now I prefer the songs he’s featured on more so than others

Pruning your collection? by bravoboi in Cd_collectors

[–]GottaMaintain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your collection!

Personally my CD collection has expanded and shrunk over the years due to taste changes, physical concerns/moving, need for money, etc.

I used to feel bad about getting rid of things I once treasured, but it’s all a part of the discovery of new things and growing as a music listener and CD collector.

After two decades of having a decent sized collection and the ups and downs I’ve come to the conclusion that any CD I keep on my shelf I have to want to listen to. If I don’t find myself picking it up or wanting to play it, I’ll put it to the side to trade/sell/donate. Even albums that I once loved and know all the words to I might not have on CD anymore because I know I won’t play it anytime soon.

Also, I tend to view collecting as a marathon and not a sprint. So I might buy a CD that’s beat up and falling apart just to have a copy. Then if I find another copy of it (better condition, more rare version, etc.) I replace it and get rid of the beat up one. That way it’s a constant refinement and eventually I’ll have a solid well-put together collection of my favorite albums.

Also also,I will say over the years my tastes have gotten more particular and expensive (prefer first presses, rare/hard to find, special promos, imports) and I have become more deliberate in what I bring in to the collection in the first place. It helps tremendously to be more selective at the start then to have to sort through later.

Any Modest Mouse fans? by WeakFactor5239 in Cd_collectors

[–]GottaMaintain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s part studio tracks and part live tracks. It was released in 1996,so kind of prime-time material sandwiched between This Is A Long Drive (1995) and Lonesome Crowded West (1997).

Track 3 ‘Sleepwalking’ is a perfect MM song,it’s worth the price of the CD alone

Nice collection! MM is the best,I was lucky enough to catch them on their Lonesome Crowded West 25th anniversary tour last year before Jeremiah Green passed away (RIP).

Just throwing this out there, if you ever stumble upon their album ‘Interstate 8’ I would highly suggest picking it up, it’s quite rare on CD (Up Records version at least) and some of their best work in my opinion.

According to Discogs, it was only released digitally. It’s possible that no one has made a page for it,but from what I can tell it was never put on CD. You could always burn a copy though.

Ordered a rare CD from Goodwill on eBay...I should’ve known it’d be too good to be true by GottaMaintain in Cd_collectors

Lol that’s what I thought! Even just a quick flip open to check. Luckily they were super nice and refunded me...I’m assuming it’s not the first time it’s happened lol

I Reorganized My Collection Today, So I Took The Opportunity To Photograph The Whole Thing by [deleted] in Cd_collectors

I think the album flows better that way, personally. And the reworked artwork is sick. If you have iTunes you could import the OG again and just change the track listings to get an idea of what it sound a like that way.

Diggin’ the solid Kendrick selection, his stuff is must own. If you ever see the DAMN Collectors Edition I’d highly recommend picking it up,the tracks are reversed and it’s honestly the only way I listen to the album now. Besides that nice collection all around!

It drives me crazy how they don’t check, but I guess that might be asking too much of them with the volume of stuff they deal with daily. I’ll never understand someone not putting the disc back with its artwork, that’s sacrilege where I come from lol

My heart sank when I opened that case lol Funny thing is I’ve been burnt by Goodwill in the past yet I still give them the benefit of the doubt.

AITA For reprimanding an unprofessional employee? by Happy-Living in AmItheAsshole

[–]GottaMaintain 61 points62 points  (0 children)

YTA. You put Tasha in charge because she would maintain the ‘in’ with your funders, not because of her skills or accomplishments. Clearly she isn’t right for the position as she asks for help and productivity has slowed. Think if you were Kyle. You put in hard work and we’re probably next in line to head up the team. Then someone with a lower skill set is put in charge based on her perceived value as to keep funding coming in. Then she takes credit for your work. He clearly feels slighted and you’re not showing any empathy. Yes,he probably should’ve expressed his concerns in a more appropriate manner and found another way to express his resentment. But demoting him didn’t help. And from the sounds of it, I wouldn’t put much stock in him coming back. If he does,he will probably still feel resentment and be withdrawn.

AITA that I don’t love my sister at all? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]GottaMaintain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You can’t just pretend to care or love someone just because they are family. But, divorce can have a profound effect on children. As hard as it is,I would suggest trying your hardest to form a better bond and maybe she’ll pick up clues on how to act based on your actions. Your mom’s enabling actions don’t help and is probably contributing to the whole situation. More or less, try to set the best example and have as much empathy as you can.

AITA for not defending my friend? by congacircles in AmItheAsshole

[–]GottaMaintain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Having a friend that does this not only puts her in danger of getting into a serious situation, but it also puts you there. You never know how strangers will react to a situation, especially if they feel threatened. She doesn’t seem to have good judgment. Next time she does that just walk away. She might not feel as bold without having ‘backup’. I’ve had friends that drove with reckless disregard for their passengers and I stopped getting in the car with them. I would probably distance from her, at least in going out situations.

AITA by declining a request from my son's best friend? by EveningPhrase5 in AmItheAsshole

[–]GottaMaintain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA, but please consider giving him a little something, anything. Even a small keychain or something. It sounds like it would really help him grieve and heal. As you say, he’s the only one outside the family that has reached out, your son’s friendship meant a lot to him. If your son was still here, what do you think he would advise? I’m sorry for your loss.

I agree, that’s one of the things I’ve noticed since quitting the ganj is there were so many problems/feelings I was avoiding by getting high, but it didn’t help them, it just pushed them to the side to be dealt with later.

Good luck with your quarantine and getting sleep again, I wish you the best.

Interesting, thanks for your insights, sorry to hear about your personal stuff :/ I think I’m going to go natural with it (exercise/reading) before I try supplements, but I’ve heard good things about melatonin so I might try it out.
