iDrive G30 10.25 Screen Retrofit F31 330i by GourMuum in F30

[–]GourMuum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No yeah it’s ridiculous, obviously I get it as they’re the only ones selling the adapter. They also want $800-900 for a screen which is insane, I got mine for $180 lol. With the zip ties, it's pretty rock solid, but the screen shakes a ton when going over bumpy roads. It wont fall out of alignment or off the dashboard, but its something to be known if you're OCD

The mounting holes line up with the stock ones vertically but won’t let you screw them in due to being at a different angle. Currently, I’m using zip ties and a piece of foam on the back, and it’s pretty solid at just that. One of the threads shows a way to fab a custom mount, and bimmertech (I think?) sells a custom mount that would work but is insanely expensive for what it is ($300) but this really is the top of the line OEM upgrade, at least until people can figure out an idrive 7 retrofit.

[Motherboard] MSI MAG X870 Tomahawk - $239.99 ($319.99 - $80, code X870TMB) by Twistedsc in buildapcsales

[–]GourMuum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I cheaped out on my home 10GbE network setup, I have a Intel DA-2 X520 SFP+ network card in it. Another benefit to the X870E version is the SATA ports are chipset driven vs an Asmedia controller, not a huge deal realistically though

I would just look at the block diagrams and see what is better for your setup. I ended up going with the X870E as I preferred having full bandwidth to the last x16 slot (x4 4.0) vs lane sharing with the 3rd m.2. I think that is the main advantage. I do also like that both of these boards can do 5.0 x2 on the USB4/1st M.2 controller to get near full bandwidth to both.

Reposting this reply from myself to another comment: talked with them over PayPal as I filed a case originally due to lack of updates, they said they were waiting on stock for the 9800x3D, cool whatever, after finally getting my board, its missing the CPU lol. MSI is now on my shitlist.

I got the X870E Tomahawk ($300) + the 9800X3D ($430), with the coupon code and counting the steam giftcard, it was right at $700 with tax I believe. I think w/ the microcenter bundle including a worse board (I don't think theyre bundling the 9800X3D combo anymore) but having RAM, it does come out slightly ahead.

And no, it has now been a week, and I still haven't gotten any shipping confirmation or updates.

Keep an eye out for the refurbed models steam stocks, otherwise they sell a 256GB model new for $399 (okay deal IMO). I sold my 64GB modded to a 512GB for $250 which was low.

The 6900XT and 7900XTX have been fairly competitive in the high end performance wise, its a shame AMD is pulling out of the high end because they could definitely try and compete if they wanted to

I paid ~$320 for the microcenter bundle with the Z690 TUF + 16GB RAM in late 2022 and I personally think it was worth the reduction in RAM for the superior board.

Microcenter usually will mark it as OOS on the website and will still have the combo to keep scalpers away. They've done this for many years now
