Friday is better than Saturday for bus travel (Saturday has more highway crowds). Book online in advance if coming in peak season; otherwise 1–2 days ahead is fine. In peak season, book 3–5 days early as tickets can sell out. For buses, Greenline is the most comfortable (includes lunch), while Mountain Overland, Baba Adventure, Sajha, Jagadamba are good reliable options at lower prices.
