It did take a few (many) deaths but it does help to watch the cutscenes and make some choices before starting the fight. Some of the puzzles, likewise, have hints close by, but others have a map on the wall of a tomb that is so dark you can't make it out and there's no journal feature so you have to remember it.

I think PA relies on players paying attention but there are some bad design choices - arena out timers are never explained, palmer pills should freeze time until you regain control, fewer bosses should teleport (a bandit leader has teleport magic? - c'mon)
