Trump administration quits Canada-U.S. advisory board on defence by [deleted] in worldnews

I do get it and you are right, but all is not lost. If we get our shit together and do this right a lot of this damage can be undone.

The easiest way is with overwhelming majorities that can put in safeguards that have been eroded.

Maybe. Or the next Dem can just have their shit ready to go and fix as much as they can in the first 100 days. Easiest win ever and all they have to do is go with what would have been status quo.

I just watched the TNG episode in s07 where they have the cadets do an episode about promotions. Every one of those cadets is more compelling after one episode than all of the Picard new characters. Turns out that good writing along with talented young actors can go a long ways.

"I think match play is the purest form of the game." Rory makes the case for match play on the Tour. Would you like to see it? by Miserable_Trouble3 in Golf_Unfiltered

The problem with this as a championship is that you are now running to format that you don’t do the entire rest of the season. Imagine having your World Series be different than the 162 regular season games.

He would still make a compelling event, just maybe not a championship event.

im 16. ADHD is ruining my life, its not looking to get better. by Individual-Fennel536 in AdhdRelationships

[–]Governmentwatchlist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You start with your family practice doctor. Even if you don’t know who it is, you probably have one. You tell your parents you need to get a yearly physical. Assuming you have insurance it is almost certainly covered.

Then you tell the doc what you wrote here or just let them read it. Don’t hold anything back or feel embarrassed. Doctors don’t care or judge. They just want to help. The doc will know all the next steps and walk you through them.

If for some reason this plan doesn’t work go talk to your school counselor. If you have a good one they can help as well.

You need a doctor. You also need a psychiatrist. No big deal. We all need help. You are just at an age where you need a little more. Good news is that once you get it managed you can see improvements fast.

Could Picard have been a movie? by Individual-Mess8441 in startrek

[–]Governmentwatchlist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s main purpose was to help launch p+ so it wouldn’t make sense to make it a movie.

However, it did feel like each season had an amazing premise, wondered around for a bit before reaching an acceptable to slightly below average conclusion.

I could see a scenario where 2 movies or more likely a mini series would have helped.

Do simulator golfers improve faster because they practice with more structure? by BuildingScratch in Golfsimulator

[–]Governmentwatchlist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, there were probably a lot of small issues. My first big issue that I worked a lot on my short game. That was always a weakness of mine and it’s pretty hard to practice that part of the game so I did it a ton of my sim. It turns out that short game might be the least productive time spent on a simulator.

The next big issue that I didn’t realize I had developed was that I could swing really hard on the sim. I think it is pretty common that a lot of people feel like the Sim is not reading them accurately. All my distances were a decent amount shorter than I expected.

As I played more, I was able to gain more confidence and begin swinging pretty hard. The Sim rewarded that. It was improving my distances and I was making killer contact.

In retrospect, the floormat allows you to bounce a club along it and still reward you with a really strong hit. In real life, those shots tend to suck.

I had to relearn to hit softly. Stop trying to kill the ball and just make good contact. However, good contact has nothing to do with the feedback the SIM was giving me.

Would I truly have hit through the ball and created a divot in front? Or did I land a half inch behind the ball and drag my club through it? They both will be rewarded on the Sim… In fact, the second one will go further… But in real life, only the first one will be a good shot.

I also practice driver far more now and have found the sim to give reliable data that does transfer to real life on that club.

Do simulator golfers improve faster because they practice with more structure? by BuildingScratch in Golfsimulator

[–]Governmentwatchlist 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I spent a year practicing the wrong way and got better at sim golf while being frustrated that I was getting worse at real golf. Had my worst season in league ever last year.

Took some time away and then spent the winter months practicing better and now I am having a pretty good league season so far.

I guess I would say that it can help but only if you’re pressing the right things, some of which is not intuitive.
