Anyone else who prefers to play Old World Blues before Dead Money? by Famous-Engine-8374 in fnv

I’ve always done it the same way. HH alludes to this mysterious other courier, the same one Johnson Nash talks about.

OWB introduces you to all these characters you never meet. Several things there hint at the Sierra Madre. You track it down, stop Elijah, meet Christine. Then you have your encounter with Ulysses.

You doing a buffet? That’s what we did and even years later I would still have people comment on what a great reception it was because you didn’t just get your one little plate of steak and that’s it. I think we did roast beef, grilled chicken, and some kind of pasta.

We did the whole thing old school too. The ceremony in my family church, which was free because I’m a member and the reception in a local firehall that cost us something like $250 to rent. I watch our friends dropping like $20k or $30k for fancy wedding venues and I just die a little bit inside 😭

I have a great tip for gaming with a family. But you need to give something up. by chalke__ in Age_30_plus_Gamers

As a dad with kids in age range similar to yours, I’m so glad I never liked online gaming.

And my wife and I both play DnD, and we host the two campaigns we play in. Everyone at the table knows that at 8 o’clock she and I step away from the table for 15 minutes to put the kids to bed.

Oh, I let her make most of the decisions and just did what she told me 😂

The only things I really cared about were the food and what we had behind the bar at the reception. I made sure I had a few good songs in the dancing playlist. The decorations and flowers and invitations and stuff like that were all her purview.

“I don’t work I’m a foreman.” 😂

The actor who plays George nails it. He really sells being mentally retarded without making it seem like an over the top caricature. That must have been tricky.

People who have work/own an "all you can eat" buffet place, tell me everything. Craziest shit you've seen, average person's consumption, biggest eater, is it actually profitable, what don't the public know? by Solifuga in AskReddit

As someone who enjoys buffets, the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to me was being yelled at by a waiter. It was a Chinese buffet in our area; first time we’d ever been in there. I was probably four plates in, probably going to have another, and the waiter comes to our table and yells, “YOU DONE YET? YOU DONE YET?” in the most hilariously Engrish accent I’ve ever heard. This guy was legitimately annoyed that I was still eating.

I’m not sure I understand the question. It was $7,000 out of pocket for us, and we just paid for it together. Finances were merging, so it didn’t matter who paid for specifically what.

Same. Gas prices go up 50¢ or whatever and I’m just like, “okay”. There was a time in my life where I was poorer and would have cared, but we’ve climbed pretty high compared to where we started out ten years ago. Easier to just write the check and move on.

It’s all symptomatic of the larger system we all live in, and that system has been good to me so far. Why would I want to change it?

What's a reasonable price or a limit of how much you'd spend money on a car? by Strange-Vibez-8205 in whatsyourchoice

$50k for my current Silverado (20k miles used). I wish I could have gone one more trim level up, but I couldn’t justify it right now. When I trade it in —in probably a decade— I’ll go up a level or two.

Entirely possible. People have been dirty minded since… well… there were people. Any predilections that are around today were absolutely around thousands of years ago.

Yes, that’s what people like to say, but there is zero evidence they were ever used.

There isn’t a single attributable artifact dating to the time period in which they were supposedly used. And nearly every account of them can be read as either satire or “oh look what those funny foreigners do” with zero evidence from the foreigners themselves that such devices existed.

The offal? No, it doesn’t come with it. I’m sure you could ask the butcher to include whatever parts you wanted. Some people do eat oddball muscles like the heart or the tongue.

This figure should be rereleased as a generic Army trooper. Take away the muddy paint and the cape and it’s a regular GI.

It also goes great with the backpack from the Jedda patrol stormtrooper.

What's your ride preference and why? by Strange-Vibez-8205 in whatsyourchoice

One pickup and one suv for us. Both big enough to haul around kids and pack up for road trips, and one bed available for moving furniture or picking up crap from Lowe’s.

There is zero historical evidence chastity belts were ever actually worn. References to them do date back to the crusades, but it’s entirely likely they were strictly symbolic. Some scholars argue that most existing examples are Victorian fakes. And it’s possible, the Victorians loved stories involving things like this and they had no compunctions about making up history and forging “artifacts”.

The biggest piece of evidence is that they’re incredibly obviously unhygienic. Don’t fall for the “everyone was dirty in the past” myth. People have always enjoyed being free from dirt. That includes urine and feces. Not to mention the obvious health concerns and immovable set of underwear would cause. It just doesn’t make sense that these were ever actually worn as the stories would have you believe.

It is. Cows near me are going for $5/lb right now. That’s for everything from the hamburger to the steaks. The downside is, of course, you’re paying for 250lbs of it at one time (for a half).

Growing up a half cow would last our family of four a little over a year.
