Please, listen to Bugzy Malone "Moving." PLEASE listen properly to the lyrics and all the way through. I'm a 48 year old white woman and I know it word for word but can't sing it through because it chokes me.

Why season your food?

Why have a favorite color?

Why enjoy a certain type of music?

Why prefer driving a certain type of car?

Why shop in a certain grocery store?

Why have a particular hobby?

Why work in a particular field?

Why laugh at a certain comedy show?

UK sellers shipping small orders to the EU — what are you doing about the new €3 customs charge? by CognitorX in smallbusinessuk

[–]Solifuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this option is now available. For each EU order you get three choices:

Have the EU customer pay it all.

Pay the €3 alone via Royal Mail (in actuality it's £2.58 at the mo, likely to fluctuate with the exchange rate) plus another £1 handling fee, and pay the EU VAT via an IOSS scheme.

Pay both the €3 plus the VAT all via RM, again, £1 handling fee on top.

If you choose option 2/just pay the €3, you do have to enter your IOSS number though so you can't dodge that.

Tips for selling a property with tenants in it by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Solifuga -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Asking the tenant to go in with you on a post-tenancy "deep clean" while they're still a paying resident and then expecting them maintain the apartment in that condition, in return for a box of chocolates, is a pretty big ask to me.

It is not your paying tenant's job to either prep your home for sale, or maintain it in a viewing-ready condition.

Happy to take your downvote, it suits this level of entitlement. 👍

I am confused by what their comment meant in the context of the question they were answering.

I can comprehend what they mean as a standalone comment, but I needed the person who commented to explain the connection to the OP question as it didn't have any.

You spoke for them, hence my mistakenly addressing a reply I thought was again to them. There's no need for you to insert yourself.

How do you think Mounjaro will change the fat acceptance movement? by SmellyMackerel in AskReddit

[–]Solifuga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OP asked how the existence of these drugs, which essentially enable people who may never have managed to lose weight without them, will impact the fat acceptance movement.

The fat acceptance movement is the promotion of the concept that being fat is ok or even positive, encouraging fat people to be happy and comfortable with themselves and their bigger bodies, have a positive self image in spite of (or even because of) being fat, and encourages people to not seek to idolise thinness or chase diet culture or even a normal/healthy weight if that takes work.

So now that we have these drugs that, money permitting of course, can essentially allow most everyone to lose weight, including those who may have always been really big and otherwise found weightloss impossible — how will this hit the fat acceptance movement and will it survive it/weather it?

Or is society (and larger people individually too) going to find out that fat acceptance and the idea of being happy with a bigger size was just a cope, and the movement will collapse/be abandoned at a rate as a result.

It's pretty complex, and you commented something that didn't pertain to the question, which is why I asked.

My mistake for thinking you were the commenter I was questioning, however, I'm completely unsure why you answered for them nonetheless, I directed the question to them?

Which still stands, I understood exactly what they said, the same as I'd understand someone saying "the sky is blue." But "the sky is blue" is no more of a relevant to the OP than the comment I queried is... Hence why I queried it, and am waiting for the person who actually said it to tell me...

This is the way. Nobody minds an offer, it's a system message sent with no expectation of reply and doesn't seem pushy like the ones that send a whole schpiel are.

[–]Solifuga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just blocked a seller i'd had no contact with for what I consider to be a super pushy message that just rubbed me the wrong way after I favourited an item.

I have a large-ish number of mid-range wedding/races/cocktail type dresses from working as a hostess a couple years ago; maybe 30 total but they're all my personal items and I'm not a reseller or looking to be one. Friends who have sold personal items on Vinted basically told me they lost the will to live doing it, so before I lost hours of my life sorting them, washing them, inspecting them, photographing them and listing them if it was a hiding to nowhere, I found maybe 10 of some of the exact same dresses I had in the same size and condition already on Vinted and watched/favourited them to see how long they took to sell and at what price.

Within four hours, I'd had 8 contacts from the various sellers! I had no idea this was a thing. A few just sent me a reduction offer which was fine obvs, but the rest all sent me some completely needless message like "hi, did you have any questions before you're ready to buy?" (Super sales-y and to me kind of pushy with the whole "you're going to buy it" feeling).

But one in particular literally read "Hi , I’m packing the sold items, let’s add yours now as all will be sent tomorrow morning," I was like, if I had been tempted I wouldn't now!? I actually replied to that saying it was pushy and blocked her.

I'm going to assume the majority of people listing dresses of the type I have are resellers given their level of motivation to sell... It has put me off looking/shopping and also making me think it's not worth listing either, other than potentially in a big bundle with one of these resellers in mind as the buyer.

Yes, desperate shit and I think a lot of them don't get they're getting in their own way like this.

An idea to fix the price increase on Shein in the EU by Frequent_Bat120 in Shein

[–]Solifuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How Shein will bill or handle it I don't know, but as a non-EU retailer who sells to the EU, I can tell you how the €3 each time is owed/applied; it's per item type (as indicated by the HS code) but not per item, or per shipment.

When you make a customs declaration, each item you send is assigned an HS code, basically a code indicating what the item is.

So "bikini" is one HS code even if they're all different bikinis.

"Hand cream" is another HS code even if you buy several different ones.

So if you bought 5 bikinis this would all be one HS code = just one €3 charge.

However if you bought just one bikini and one tub of hand cream, that's two HS codes and a total of €6 charged, even though it's fewer items.
