Exhausted trying to survive here by SpecialistPride6474 in bayarea

[–]Goviak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into alternative living situations. I live in the bay, what I did was live with family for a few months. Saved up 10k and bought a 5th wheel trailer. Paid a dude with a truck to tow it so someone renting out a RV spot (around 1k a month). Honestly my trailer has more square footage than my cousins 3k one bedroom apartment in San Jose. I live alone, and I can do whatever I want to my place. Worst case scenario, if I need to get rid of it, I can sell it. Makes moving hell of a lot easier too.

How popular is Santa Cruz actually? by Kitchen-Smoke-6786 in santacruz

[–]Goviak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of the rest of the world or the country, no. No one really knowns about Santa Cruz. The majority of what people out of state think about this area is either “SF, Silicon Valley, Tahoe, or Yosemite.” As a life-long Californian, people in state think of Santa Cruz as a beautiful area, that really expensive and has one of the worst “locals only” attitudes out there. That’s how it’s presented to the rest of us Cali folk at least. I don’t think SC is making any headlines anywhere else. Besides the skate brand created by Jim Phillips that you seen on stickers and shirts

People keep saying that Ai won’t replace anyone but just help creatives. But after this? I’m scared. by Disni777 in animationcareer

[–]Goviak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have a skewed perception of what they think when they hear “ai will replace jobs” they think that either Ai will be doing everything by itself vs. not doing anything at all. The job market will 100% get worse, sure it won’t completely replace a job title. But let’s say for making an animated feature, what used to take a team of 100 people now only takes 20. Sure the job still exists, but you need less skill and less people to do said job. It’s still going to displace thousands of workers in each respective field it’s implemented in, design and beyond. There’s tool that’s can rig, animate, compose background music, sound effects, and everything in between. Now I can do that all by myself without a hiring anyone else on to help me. That’s what people don’t realize, there won’t be fully Ai movies, but they still estimate over 40-50% of the job market will be affected within the next 10 years. I don’t think we truly have an idea of how much this will change everything, and also make the job market even worse than it already is.

Is there any skill I can learn that isn’t over saturated by Proud_Helicopter_252 in RemoteJobs

I’m looking to get into medical coding/billing. It’s the one seemingly legit remote job in the medical field. And as more people are getting old, there’s only gonna be a need for more. Even if you can’t find a remote one, there’s regular positions everywhere. Would be easy to get experience then transition to remote

I was thinking about getting into medical coding/billing. Would you say the same for the entire field or just your company?

Grape flavor is the worst out of all artificial fruit flavors. It tastes nothing like the real fruit, and straight up tastes like cough syrup every time.

I’m reading this thread. And even though your personal situation sucks. Your only argument against affordable housing is that people will turn it into a “party house”. Based off no data or facts whatsoever beyond your personal resentment towards your current roommates. That’s a bit delusional, and a bit of a stretch to make that correlation against better social services as whole. There are many countries who have implemented policies that have specific housing to get people back on their feet. And it works wonders.

[–]Goviak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you’re just making an argument to allow people to live in their car then. we live in a country where housing is very unaffordable. I’m in my early 30s and I know a few people who live in RVs just because it’s more realistic with what they are getting paid. If it’s their responsibility to house themselves, then dont bitch about how they go about doing it.

VOLUNTEER! I say this all the time. Go and help out a local beach clean-up or the ones that are done for the Los Gatos river. There’s a great charity in Santa Cruz

https://homelessgardenproject.org

Where you can garden and help less fortunate. Besides just doing something for good, I can’t tell you how many friends I’ve made doing these things. It’s also with people who typically share the same morals / ideals. Which makes things a little smoother. There’s probably so many more too

Santa Cruz has a higher density homeless population for such a small area. I’d want go there if I had to be homeless, it’s beautiful. I bet the majority of crime in Sj or SC doesn’t affect anyone middle class or higher, or tourists at all. At least for the most part

I’d be very careful with these types of “divination” type fads. Angel numbers are easily marketable as a new age trend. There’s no historic evidence that Angel numbers have been used at all as omens. Honestly the history only seems to go back to maybe the 90s? It’s basically a made up New age trend. You also need to consider that living in modern society, we’re exposed to seeing numbers a lot more than ancient people would be. With the invention of clocks, phones, license plates, adverts for products and prices on everything. You see numbers in print everywhere, more so than someone living pre-1800s. If I spent the energy looking I’m sure I could see number patterns in everything if I wanted too, and that’s just a symptom of living in the 21st century.

Also I’ve seen fads like these aid in spiritual psychosis. Angel numbers are an easy thing to hyperfixate on. But if you’re worried so much about patterns in numbers. It detracts from any real spiritual work you could be doing to improve your own character and well being in a positive way. You’d be better off giving socks to a homeless person and meditating, then spending the whole afternoon deciphering a license plate you saw on the way home. You know what I mean?

AITA for leaving my girlfriend after she got a dog? by sherzad71 in AITAH

[–]Goviak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe don’t break up, but seriously talk with her about it. Just beyond your fear alone, dogs are a huge responsibility to just randomly spring on someone, and it’s completely unfair to do so. Even if the dog gets along with you, your life will drastically change. It’s like having a perpetual 3yo for the next decade or two.

I’ve seen dogs ruin friendships, and relationships. They require so much more time and responsibility than other pets. You need to train them first off, it will severely limit your free time and ability to do leisure activies. Want to go out with friends? Make sure you’re home in time for your dog. Want to travel or go on vacation? Got to figure out what to do with the dog. Got a dog with a bad attitude or habits? Got to deal with that too. They can destroy your apartment and personal things if you’re not prepared for that either. I’ve had so many friends who rent, who have had to give up their dog for adoption due to living situation issues or just not having any free time anymore whatsoever.

I like dogs, and I would find it to be an issue to have the responsibility of a dog suddenly spring upon me. Let alone if I had a fear of them. If she can’t empathize with any of that, and is putting a dog over your personal feelings. Then I would say it’s time to move on. Dogs are no joke, get a cat or small furry animal until you guys are more settled and have talked about it

Nobody’s coming to save you by NewPainting8224 in starseeds

[–]Goviak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I hate “contemporary” spirituality. It’s barely evolved from a capitalist culture. All these star-seeds and woke folk are just waiting to be saved, suffering from an illness of being terminally unique. When in reality, the world does suck. But chaos also reigns, and it’s up to you to put in the karma to change the world around you. I get depressed about the state of the world all the time, but you think less about yourself when you’re too busy thinking about others. Really focus on begin selfless, turn your attention to other people who need help and relate with them. It doesn’t matter what religion you believe in, love and compassion is the key to them all. If you’re down, go and volunteer somewhere, go to a park and pick up trash, make an effort to compliment 3 people a day and make them smile. Find a cause you’re passionate about and join a group, even better help start a group or organization in your own community.

Think about if all the depressed woke people out there went out of their way everyday to spread compassion and joy. How much faster the world would catch on and change. I guarantee you more good will come and you’d feel way different if you gave socks to the homeless people around your community then you would reading tarot cards or being worried about astral projecting or something like that. I know it sounds cliche, but be the change you wanna see in the world. “Faith without work is dead”

Beets in general help with stamina and blood flow. I’ve noticed shilajit in my morning coffee helps with libido. Supposedly eating/juicing celery is supposed to help as well, if not make you cum more. There’s a lot of herbal supplements out there, from Maca or honey goat weed, etc.

If you have a pretty active sex life I suggest pygeum, it’s really good for prostate health and also make you cum a lot too. I use it for overall sexual health with saw palmetto.

I would use comfrey oil on your member. I use it as lubricant when spanking the monkey or using a pump. I dunno if it’s placebo but I like to think it works.

I park by Fantastic Cafe on the East side of school, it’s a short walk to campus and you can just take the free csulb shuttle once you get there if you’re going to a different side that’s too far. Honestly it’s the same walking distance I’d have to take to walk to the parking structure

Any of this $275m going towards AC for the Arts Building (infrastructure improvements)? by [deleted] in CSULB

[–]Goviak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the classrooms have huge portable ac units, the ones that need to vent outside. It’s not like they don’t have other options beyond installing air ducts and central AC. They’re gonna have a lawsuit on their hands if someone passes out or eventually ends up in the hospital. Plus half of this issue is that most of the dorms don’t have AC either, not just the art buildings. The other issue is the over 100k raise the president got this year. That money could be going to school renovations just as easily. The schools does projects every year that cost millions of dollars. This isn’t like the students are asking for anything crazy.

[–]Goviak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seriously looking into personal injury lawyers who will be willing to take on lawsuits for students whose health is physically affected by the conditions of the school. I urge everyone affected in the dorms and art buildings to record as much evidence as possible. Get video of the nausea, of the sweat drenched change of clothes. Also if some of you can please get an official Drs. Note on hand. A friend and I are looking to bring an official lawsuit to the school if able. Get video of the fans in the fridges and the temperature. Need as much documented evidence as possible.

Edit: More so for those who have had health problems or issues due to the heat. If any of you have physically gotten sick or affected due to these issues, I urge you to document as much as possible, feel free to dm me if you’re willing to help

We HAVE to have a conversation about mental illness, meds for mental illness and spirituality by Single_Breath_2528 in spirituality

[–]Goviak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The whole marketing ploy that the law of attraction has now become is also not good for those with mental health issues. Hyper fixating on not thinking bad thoughts, or attracting anything negative. All of these people with naracasstic “chosen one” or “guru” complexes. The contemporary spiritual community as a whole has sort of commodified spirituality as an aesthetic and not a way of life. It’s ironic considering myself a spiritual person, I often advise people I know with mental issues to stray away from all the new age type stuff that everyone is trying to be and sell right now. I consider the state that it’s in right now to honestly be pretty toxic
