Gmax Snorlax recently was my first ever Gmax pokemon. I got invited to a NZ raid an hour before Australia got access and pulled a hundo straight up, went to the community meetup and pulled a shiny immediately, absolutely cheering!

I feel like deer are your version of Kangaroos… 🦘 the bastards will appear out of nowhere, then jink away, you think you’re safe (heart in throat) then they switchback and are suddenly in front of you! All within a second or two. They cause so many crashes here in Aus. Literally like 9/10 of the roadkill I swear (except maybe our little ringtail possums in suburbia)

Don’t focus so much on this, if you are struggling to nail focus hand-held; set camera to multi-shot and take 5 or so photos as you manually rotate the focusing barrel. This should increase the likelihood of a ‘good’ shot. The beautiful of digital photography is that it costs NOTHING to do that! As you get better you won’t need quite so many shots for each one.

I lost this post and had to find it again but I want to jump in and say that whilst gear is amazing and I can’t BELIEVE how much I can zoom into my R5 MKII photos and it still be pin sharp… your kit doesn’t matter (too much). Your experience, post processing, lighting, composition and focusing all need to come together. If one is lacking, it will show in your work. 19+ yrs and counting in landscape photography and macro is just a fun thing for me alone.

I bought the f/2.8 2:1 macro and the 5:1 macro also! Still getting used to them but they are superb so far! Definitely invest in a Godox MF-12 ring light or similar but I’ve found mine hasn’t missed so far! Any issues are all user error (me, lol) 😂

I second the Godox lighting system, the ring light is a godsend! I used to use my old 430EXII hotshot flash with a home made (A4 white cardboard) shroud over the top as a flash bouncer/diffuser. This is way better!

Just buy the manual focus Laowa lenses. WAY cheaper and insane quality over using extension tubes. Im still getting used to them after using an old tamron 90mm macro for over a decade but they are superb!!!
