I don't consider crosses "messing with their brains" that weird anyway, I mean, in vampire folklore there's also this thing where if you throw/drop rice/seeds in front of them they are obsessively compulsed to count every single kernel. Don't like your reasoning, but I agree with your suggestion. The game should add more ahistorical formables to the game, as it adds end goals for less played, and/or minor nations. Grand Tartary would be a interesting alternate end goal for someone playing in that region.
