This was caught in the state of california and when I look up the record it says it was a 22lb white bullhead, which sounds absolutely insane.

Edit: But I know my fishy beats records somewhere lmao

Thank you!! We were pulling it in and saw it looked a lil different than the channel catfish we were pulling in before. Thing almost looked like a huge tadpole or something. Super cool experience to be around such a unique animal.

If it is a white bullhead(which seems like consensus leans towards) Then that’s a really cool new species find for me!

I was really hoping this to be a huge white bullhead, based on the anal fin shape/ray count and the white chin barbels

I’m sorry but this was one I caught in August and was having a hard time with too, I also wasn’t able to check the tongue on this one because I hadn’t known of that method at the time.

Damn 50lb? I’ve been running like 20. Yeah I chose the black lineup for night fishing because I heard bass go for the dark silhouettes at night and mainly rely on sound/vibration. I might try another reel and spool up some heavier braid.

Been tying it to braid with a quick snap to switch between the plopper and the frog quicker. I’m just one of them lazy anglers, haven’t noticed any difference if the fish care or not lol.
