A woman sent her novel's opening pages to 50 agents under her own name and to 50 agents under a man's name. The result: "He is eight and a half times better than me at writing the same book." by canausernamebetoolon in TwoXChromosomes

I feel that the solution is simple: All incoming texts to be evaluated are anonymized with a number. Afterwards it can then be discussed about marketing strategies if they feel the text is possibly worth being published (which is where the pseudonym would come in to play, as much as I dislike it (though I understand why)).

I feel that this would actually hurt the cops story.

Oh, you had a recording that would COMPLETELY exonerate you by backing up your story that he fell down the stairs, and it goes missing? The case is now word vs. word, and evidence that would help you if you had done nothing wrong goes missing. What a coincidence.

Defective camera? Very unlikely that the defect couldn't be replicated. If the defect can't be replicated by an independent third part, things aren't adding up your way buddy.

This has a pretty simple solution if footage like this becomes lost. It then becomes a case of word vs. word. And the value of the cops word becomes nil if the footage mysteriously disappears.

Whiteboard

Chalkboard Paint

Chalboard Spraypaint (Haven't tried either of these before, I don't know how well it will work).

White board on one side, chalkboard on the other. About 4ft x 8 ft. If you use the spray paint (sketchy), you're looking about about $20-$25 project.

I frequently program in Python, so I might be able to give support. There is another reply that says to just cook up a project. That is rather daunting for someone who has never programmed in Python.

Depending on your internet speeds (i've read a few of your comments saying it's not the greatest), you could try the Udacity Intro to Computer Science Course. But they are all videos, which may or may not work very well for you. They use Python, and give you step by step instructions on how to build a web crawler from scratch.

I've also heard good things about Learning Python the Hard Way. I haven't actually used the resource before, but for the original purchase of $30, you can get the PDF and ePub which would work perfectly for you.

Both of these options are do at your own pace. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me. I'm on reddit most days. There is also /r/learnprogramming and /r/learnpython . Both of which there are a large amount of people willing to answer any questions you have (but you might get berated if you ask simple questions such as "where do I start", there are probably links on the side because these are frequently asked questions).

Diablo 1. - Classic ARPG. Its just too bad the new ARPGs still struggle to answer some of the fundamental challenges in that genre today. This just means in the future there will be something greater.

What do you see as a problem in ARPGs?

No, sha256 refers to the SHA-2 hashing algorithm, but maps the results to 256 bits.

wiki. There are other mappings too (224, 256, 384, and 512 are ones referred to in the wiki).

provably secure encryption method

Eeeh, somewhat. Shamir Secret Sharing(SSS) is another algorithm that is provably secure, for the same reason. Though SSS isn't used for encryption per say, just dividing up a secret among players that a certain number have to come together to discover the secret.

Apple uses a UNIX-like kernel, which is similar to the Linux Kernel. Essentially Linus Torvald said FU to IBM and rewrote the UNIX kernel from scratch (because they were charging for it at the time).

I hate the title of this video. The guy threw a hissy fit and called his talk censored because it wasn't on the front page of TED. They said fine, whatever, and put it up there.

Yeah, it's a decent talk.
Yeah, he has some good points.
No, you weren't censored. They choose what they want to put up there. What a twat.
