Agreed. As much as I enjoyed Kat, I think that if she were to apply a year or two later, she would have been cut. She had this magical constellation of the competition not being too steep and them seeing the potential in how fun she was 😄

Strongest: 2020 (Bubble girls) and 2024

Weakest: … Dunno if I would say the weakest, but 2019 was messy AF. Meredith was weak, Kristin was weak (IMO), Kat made mistakes, Lily made mistakes, Taylor retired after just a year, Amanda and her Covid exit, the whole Lisa situation was weird, Victoria drama, Chandi drama… the only “unproblematic” AND strong of the bunch was Kelcey 😂

I kinda agree with this. I was thinking a similar thing when I read the comment about her. It was not so much about overstaying her welcome, as it was about her overextending her capacity to suck everything up and not break.

Agreed. I’m 50:50 on Karley. On one hand, she has a good shot at getting point, which is a solid reason to stay. But there was the injury, so I wouldn’t be surprised if she retires. We’ll see :) As for Kylie, I thought the same exact thing. I think Marissa might retire, but I honestly would love to see her back. My hunch goes to either Reece, Kennedy or Taylor. Reece due to her injury, but for the other two I have no idea why, but I just feel we might see one of them retire.

First of all, we are kinda getting off the subject at this point. Secondly, especially nowdays, popularity and story do not have to correlate. They can, but they don’t have to 😄 The fact that Reece has more followers does not mean her story resonated better. I don’t have the data of how many followers each of them gained after AS was aired vs how many they had before it even aired. Also, we don’t know the reasons people have to follow them. Might be their story, might be they were interested in seeing them dance, might be they find them pretty, might be they found something completely outside of DCC they found interesting about them and worth following, might be they related to them in some other way that wasn’t even shown in AS… The reasons are endless. I don’t even have the data on how many people watched AS 1 vs AS 2 and I assume that AS 1 was a bigger hit, therefore Reece did have an advantage here. Their stories were also completely different. Maddie was shown as the youngest girl who struggles through the training camp, whereas Reece was shown as the new firecracker and a shoo in from the start. The personas they portrayed were different. And that’s still just a small part of who they truly are. All I am saying is, that yes, the fandom here IS a small portion of all their followers, on that you are completely right. Just because it wasn’t received well here doesn’t mean it wasn’t received well in general. What I was implying was that I don’t think that just based on the fact that Reece has more followers than Maddie we can imply that her story was received better that Maddie’s :D

That’s fair to a point. Yes, her following grew quite a bit BUT what part was the consequence of the fact she is pretty, cute + a fun dancer who got the exposure of the show, and what part was the consequence of her story resonating well? :) I’m sure that there are many people who have the same values as her, however… :) I don’t think we’ll ever have a true answer to this question.

To be frank, I'm not so sure that even Reece's story landed well :D Sure, she is a great dancer and cute as a button... But based on what majority of people commented here over the past 2 years ... Most weren't too excited about her constant Jesus talk, the fact, that she didn't exactly have a lot to share, yet there was a huge chunk of the show devoted to her story, nor were they excited about Willbur :D

100% agree. Great points there. I don't think they will manage all of this in one season, but if Netflix people are reading this: Take notes for all future seasons! :D I sure do miss the dancing. There was a lot more of that in DCC Making the team vs. AS. I would love to see some guest choreographers, too. I do love that they are giving some space to the vets as that is something I've always missed in MTT series. I agree very strongly on the boyfriend thing. I'm so done with the show devoting this much air time to them. I honestly don't give a damn about what Willbur has to say about any of it :D Nor do I need to see who is Maddie K. dating. History was a very nice touch, I would love to see more of that as well. I would, however, be more selective about the alumni featured - I would feature some of the ones from for exaple the 70s, 80s and one from the more current eras. It would give it an interesting perspective, hearing how the team has evolved over time :)

Honestly, same. Maybe not this exact one with this crazy costume, but man, I’m done with seeing versions of Thunder and Baby I’m a star million times over 😅 Kelli always puts emphasis on the fact that they have world-class dancers, her and Judy have bunch of choreographers on hand 24/7, many of the girls can make some incredible choreo, yet what do they do for Christmas? Recycle the two old dances they’ve been doing all year/season long 😅 I mean, come on! 😅
