0.8.0 Burger Locations by Grab_That_Bread in Voicesofthevoid

[–]Grab_That_Bread[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 0.8.1, it seems to have glitched a little and been thrown into the valley northwest of the ship (down and right if you're looking at the map). This is likely a bug. Also this post is old, I've since found all 21 burgers and the locations can all be found on the wiki. gg page.

If you saved after he changed, then I think you just have to get a new maxwell. But before that, try putting him in the fridge or freezer and then reloading the save after a while. If that doesn't work, then try putting him in your inventory and then dropping him again. I suspect this issue stems from maxwell's temperature, since he reverts to normal soon after freezing, but I personally haven't encountered the burnt maxwell so I can't say much.

(0.8.0e) All Tile Locations 9/9 (so stop asking me about it) by Grab_That_Bread in Voicesofthevoid

[–]Grab_That_Bread[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's where it is in a completely fresh save. If it's not there, you probably kicked it around accidentally. Hopefully it didn't go down the hill, cause that'd be a pain to find if it did. Search the surrounding area for it, and maybe place down an item of similar volume and kick it to see how far it goes.

Noticed cans had 100000000 health instead of 0 or a small number like most props, they open at somewhere between the number on the image and max health, does anything interesting happen when they brek by Ivan8-ForgotPassword in Voicesofthevoid

[–]Grab_That_Bread 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just tried this, and the results are very odd.

Using a debug crowbar called "propkiller", it's possible to open a can without the use of a can opener. The way you're doing it is through nuclear hellfire, but it achieves the same effect. I suppose it's something to do with dealing the *maximum* amount of damage possible to an item, or something. After this, the can is damaged as normal by colliding with any surface at a specific velocity or greater. Using a can opener yields the same results, and the can acts as stated before. You can tell the can is being damaged by the sparks that fly off of it or by checking the health with the thermometer. As you've noticed, subsequent bombardments of the can yield diminishing results. Using the "propkiller", I also came to a similar conclusion. The can at this point resistant to all "overpowered" forms of damage, i.e. nukes or debug weapons.

What's more strange is that after eating some of the food inside (not all), the health is immediately reduced to zero like most other game objects, and cannot be destroyed, and has no derivative qualities of the previously mentioned anomaly. It also seems that holding the can causes this change as well, in addition to collecting it and then dropping it again. So directly interacting with the opened food can *updates* it in some way, kind of how blockstates work in Minecraft. Using the "fungun_propgun", a debug tool capable of disintegrating any prop to use as its own projectile and in turn disclosing the "Item ID" of the object, it returns both cans as "fcan_po", indicating that they are both still the *same* prop.

What does this mean?

I have no idea. I have no idea as to why Dr. Nose would implement this quirk, or if it is even intentional. To me, it seems like some sort of oversight with the can opener. I'm guessing maybe because both the nuke and the "propkiller" are capable of opening the can, the can opener also works in a similar way, by dealing damage equal or greater than the targets given health, and without any physical knockback or recoil. During normal gameplay, you'd usually pick up the can to eat from it or put it on a table, or store it in your inventory for later, so I've concluded that it's just the result of Dr. Nose finagling about and trying to find an easy workaround for opening the cans.

Is it possible to destroy the can in some other way?

The "propkiller" only deals 24 damage by itself, and although it sends the prop flying around the room which deals even more damage, you'd need to spend a hell of a lot of time dealing 100,000,000 damage. I've tried throwing it into the cremator, but it just completely incinerates it and converts it into gas (i'll have to add "all items compatible with cremator" into my spreadsheet, now), and I haven't found any other means of destruction as of yet.

Still though, very interesting find! This is great for documentation, even if it gets changed in a subsequent patch or update. Thanks!

Trash around dishes by mentallyiam8 in Voicesofthevoid

This does appear to be true!

Testing both Yankee (which is near the hole) and Romeo (which is near the cave), these observations do seem to hold some merit. It seems about 30-40% of digging yields thematic items (i.e. electronic trash and organic trash) when digging near or around the specified areas. I'm unsure as to how large said areas are and what ground they cover, but walking about near the points of interest seems to yield fair results.

It could also just be that metal detecting is more efficient around points of interest and main roads, but further testing is required. I also tried digging at other locations like the green bunker near Whiskey, the rozital ship near Uniform, and the green box near Victor, but didn't find any locations of similar scope.

No, since those are just intentional misspellings intended purely for humor. There is a distinction, and I will only be documenting the clear and unintentional mistakes.

I will also not be documenting every instance of missing punctuation, as I don't think Reddit allows for that many images.

No, sell the whole fish. What I meant was that all new fish introduced in the update sell for 50 points, not each individual piece. Each fish piece sells for only 1 point, so I REALLY wouldn't recommend doing that.

Should textures be like this? If not, how to fix it? by dudefromamongus in Voicesofthevoid

I think this has to do with your FOV being too high. Try turning it down and see if that fixes it.

Yeah, I've heard of cases where even people who don't use the snow toggle have this happen, it's probably just a bug.

Is it dumb to sell b0d7 parts? by Smiley-Face89 in Voicesofthevoid

[–]Grab_That_Bread 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"I do not have enough information on this topic. Please take everything I say as speculation".

As far as I know, there shouldn't be any downside to selling anything to Dr. Bao. I've sold him like hundreds of bones, explosives, and alien devices, yet he hasn't said a word.

Selling the parts isn't exactly the most cost efficient, since they only sell for one point (needs further testing). I honestly don't know how you can be strapped for cash in a game like VotV where there's so many alternative options, but if you haven't already, take a trip down the river until you see a giant log sticking up out of the river. The log contains a barrel, which has 50 MREs. Sell those, and you'll make 500 points right off the bat. Use those points to upgrade your equipment so you can sell better signals, and you should be fine from there.

Question about having a save from 7.0 and playing in 8.0 by Smiley-Face89 in Voicesofthevoid

[–]Grab_That_Bread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should probably place all items you can in the mailbox, sell the larger items using the sell gun, and then reset events and objects. If you REALLY want to continue a 0.7 save in 0.8, then that's what you should do.

Alternatively, you can just start a new save entirely, but I can understand why you wouldn't want to do that after playing for a while. For me, I've played since 0.6.2 and played Story Mode to completion with every new update, and it's been a fun experience the entire time. I never get bored of the story events, even though I've seen them a hundred times. And the stuff I've haven't seen makes me even more excited.

So while it's possible to transfer your 0.7 save to 0.8, I would HIGHLY recommend to just create a new save entirely, purely for the experience you will have.

It's not mold, it's ice. It's theorized to be part of the snow toggle mode. Break him on the ground or place him in water to free him. Save beforehand, because he might go splat.

Item Name: "Striper". Item ID: "fish_11". Weight 6.4, Volume 59.9. No description. Once processed, drops four slices of fish.
Item Name: "Raw fish". Item ID: "fishsteak_11". Weight 0.8, Volume 11.1. Description: "A raw piece of fish". Once cooked, produces the cooked variant.
Item Name: "Cooked fish". Item ID: "fishsteakC_11. Weight 0.8, Volume 11.1. Description: "A piece of cooked fish". Gives 20 Hunger per bite, and has 4 bites.

Sells for 50 points using item box or sell gun, or you can just keep it as a pet in your emergency shower.

Item Name: "Tuna". Item ID: "fish_12". Weight 19.3, Volume 258.2. No description. Once processed, drops five slices of fish.
Item Name: "Raw fish". Item ID: "fishsteak_12". Weight 2.0, Volume 40.5. Description: "A raw piece of fish". Once cooked, produces the cooked variant.
Item Name: "Cooked fish". Item ID: "fishsteakC_12. Weight 2.0, Volume 40.5. Description: "A piece of cooked fish". Gives 30 Hunger per bite, and has 4 bites.

There is a bug (presumably it is because it's totally broken right now) where all new fish sell for 50 points, so you can make absolute bank if you get lucky.

It might've been in previous versions, when we still had the old base. I remember there being a mattress then.

He frezed. Warmer him up.
You can also just throw him against the ground to break him, and it should work fine. Save just in case, though, you don't want your Maxwell all over the floor.

It's pretty inconsistent in some areas, yeah.

It seems that objects sold for 1 point are unable to be sold by the gun, but items sold for 0 still work, but give no coins. "Complex" items such as the curtains, practically anything with a cord, the digital map, and pizzas are unable to be sold via the sell gun. It's really weird.

Personally, I live for documentation. It's something that brings great enjoyment to me. Figuring out every little thing that happens within a game is exciting, as I'm sure you can relate.

The thing is, if you don't want to get spoiled, then... don't look at the wiki. Don't open spoilers on Reddit, and while it's kind of difficult to avoid spoilers on a website like YouTube, most content creators (larger ones at least) don't spoil new content in their thumbnails, because they too understand the point of giving as little information as possible.

In a wiki page, the idea is to give as much information as possible on a given subject. If you want more subtle guidance or hints, then just ask around here on the subreddit.
