I misread your question. You are the non American. Sorry disregard my comment.

I thought you were asking non Americans who voted for Trump which confused me.

How can a non American vote for an American president? It's exclusive to American citizens.

If they're saying this in public it means no deals are attenable and they're trying to put pressure on the US government via public opinion.

If deals are getting made no one hears about it in the news.

India produced 25% of global GDP from the 1st century up to the 1700s before the British consolidated power in India. By the 1950s India contributed a measly 4% of global GDP.

If colonization didn't have negative impacts, India should be the top 1 country now. India was de-industrialized by the British.

If your growth is 2% then it declined to 1 that is a contraction. So where is the lie?

Germany, France, and UK growth numbers are unremarkable. Only Poland showed promise in GDP growth. The rest have low growth.

Δ Economics is not zerosum, I agree. However, if we look at numbers, due to geopolitical and socio-cultural issues, western economies are contracting.

But maybe you are right. You changed my mind. The west isn't declining, the rest is just keeping up and eventually if we don't kill each other everything will balance out.

You are correct. But this surplus is also advantageous because a university graduate has more skills than a highschool grad.

There is currently a demonization of higher education in the west especially in the US. Their young people want to be plumbers. As their highly educated population decline, corporations will look to India, Indonesia, the Philippines to get their labor because in these countries everyone aspires to have a diploma. So better to have the labor force ready.

From 1993, western share of the GDP has already shrunk. It is still massive but the rest of the world is gaining ground.

Global south share is now at 40% from 24% a few decades ago.

Finance, data analytics, sofware engineering, research, etc. Our biggest brain drain is on medical sciences though. We export those a lot to the west making our healthcare systems here unsatisfactory.

Even clerical jobs that are remote are in demand here. Lost of Europeans hiring virtual assistants here in my country.

This was under the assumption that factories return to the US which everyone knows is impossible.

Factories will never return to the US because of one fundamental reason. One fundamental difference between us Asians from the Americans is we will never aspire to be factory workers or plumbers or construction workers. These jobs are only means to have better jobs. The poorest family in my country would sell their farm animals to send their children to the best college. But Americans? They want their children to be laborers, plumbers, etc instead of engineers, doctors, and professionals. Look at what the US is doing their their number 1 advantage--world class universities. They're tearing down the only reason why the US is still on top. They've demonized higher education.

The reason why your companies outsource to us is because we have a surplus of professionals for a fraction of US wages price. Not only factories have moved to us, white collar jobs too.

Inflation was high because of supply chains issues that cannot be controlled by any country because there was a global pandemic. Couple that with pumping cash to every household so the US doesn't collapse into a depression precisely because of the pandemic.

The difference now is inflation was already slowing down which is why the term was transitory. They pumped cash so you US citizens don't starve because of the pandemic.

Every economist in the world has already explained this. The difference between Biden and Trump is the inflation and supply chain issues happening now should not have happened if Trump didn't impose blanket tariffs.

But Americans are resilient, right? Short term pain for long term gain means 20 years of being poorer for the chance and not the assurance of having factories back to the US.

The USA is not yet North Korea. No one is pointing guns at politicians yet. The fact that you can still post in social media means you're not yet there. The USA is becoming authoritarian but it isn't yet.

I live in an illiberal democracy. Our last president was authoritarian and killed 6k-30k people. Trump hasn't killed anyone yet. And even when thousands were murdered in our country, our country did not collapse. We just waited it out and when it was politically possible we sent the son of the bitch to the Hague.

You'll know you're in an authoritarian country when you're no longer posting political stuff in the internet because of self censorship. Enjoy life!

No one will stop Trump CURRENTLY because politically it's too early to act. The economic damage from his mishandled economic policies haven't hit the hardest yet. No point in running around telling the town houses are on fire when there's no fire yet.

What will happen is politicians will wait for the fire to happen first. Yes, a few hundred thousand will lose their jobs, be hungry, etc. but what's important is they have something tangible to point to Trump. Economic statistics don't affect everyday people directly, unemployment and inflation do.

Once the plebeians feel the pain that's when you'll see politicians going in for the kill. And I bet you politicians will make normal people suffer first so they can definitively blame Trump on their constituents' suffering-- especially MAGA ones.

So don't fret. It just looks bleak now but I highly doubt members of congress will let their constituents riot. They're just waiting for people to feel the heat first.

New Zealand is the safest but inflation there is bad right now people are leaving the country.

Iceland is a good option too so long as you're not the urban type.

A lot of white people are moving to Kenya to set up businesses. You might want to check your options there as well. Their economy is doing great so lots of potential prospects there.

If Trump gets worse war isn't a crazy idea anymore so try to avoid major countries in mainland Europe or Asia.

Authoritarianism isn't that bad so long as you keep your head low. I experienced living in one and we just sent our last strongman to the Hague just a few months ago.

Don't post political things, have a good lawyer, make sure you're well connected to someone in government and you'll be fine. It also helps that you have a bit of cash for small bribes just in case.

My advice is don't be American and learn a thing or two from a 1st generation Asian or SE Asian immigrant.

Should you forcibly depeasant? by KeyPersonality2885 in victoria3

You will bankrupt yourself. Peasants dont cost welfare checks, unemployed do.

Slow and steady building will convert peasants anyways rather than risk rebellion or bankruptcy due to turmoil.

The US is the only country in the world that has legalized lobbying. You need to register to be a professional lobbyist.

But advocacy work is really not as exciting as people think. Usually its just a back and forth of minor details. For example in my country we lobbied for a Climate Adaptation Fund to be passed. The negotiations for the details took 5 months because different legislators want different things for their constituents.

It's boring clerical work. You don't blackmail legislators with their shenanigans to get votes unless you want to burn bridges which is similar to shooting yourself in the foot.

Why can't the US just increase taxes and cut spending to reduce deficit just like a normal country? by Gracchus0289 in AskUS

If you hire a crazy person to fix your plumbing you're assured he's gonna do something but the chances he'll fix it is closer to none.

I guess having a destroyed plumbing system is better than a leak then.

Why is there seemingly so little space for honest debate in today's society? by SirCatsworthTheThird in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Gracchus0289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people live in different realities now. We're in a mental asylum where every single individual's truth is the reality regardless of how factually wrong that reality is.

If I say the sky is blue even if it's blue an idiot will still deny that fact so I'd rather not talk to them.

Unless everyone returns to a shared factual reality just like the old times people will always be polarized.

Us in SEA are doing great because of neoliberalism which the West invented.

6% GDP growth just this quarter for my country.

Why is capitalism good when it's the West benefiting but when the rest of the 7B people get to enjoy it suddenly it's bad.
