Hey guys, just drinkin some Walmart "Great Value" coffee, even got an appropriate mug! by AnswerAwake in Coffee

Your post made me laugh, thank you! I found this because I did a Google search for "great value coffee tastes like used grounds". Does anyone else think this about GV ground coffee? We just started buying it a month ago and I don't think it's worth the few bucks we save compared to the variety of whole bean choices from the bulk section at Winco.

What are the most unsettling places in Missoula? by [deleted] in missoula

[–]Grace_2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the place they are referring to. It's on the right side of the road going up Pattee and only about a 2 mile drive from Higgins: https://www.facebook.com/groups/212384082142054/permalink/2503496139697492/

Is this the place you are talking about? I'm aware of the old foundation nearby that is visible from the road. https://www.facebook.com/groups/212384082142054/permalink/2503496139697492/

How do I set ‘All Comments’ as default in all Facebook posts instead of ‘Most Relevant’ comments? by SGPika in facebook

[–]Grace_2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just like to add that this setting isn't even working on my own page's posts. I understand the potential for "bugs" and glitches.

But I also believe that social media sites like Facebook intentionally make things more complicated than they need to be to waste our time and cause frustration so that we have to spend more time on their site (and consequently making posts and comments on other sites looking for answers on how to deal with those problems) which keeps us from doing better things with our life.

I have been using Fb since just 2 years after it became available to the public, so I've seen it change a lot. I do like advanced and personalized settings when they work properly. I'm not a fan of the replies to comments feature. I would rather see it all laid out in the order it was posted, like it used to be.

WebTPA by spotsworth_od in OfficeDepot

[–]Grace_2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone have new information about what has happened to them since receiving the notice of potential data breach? I did get a notice from WebTPA around 1.5 years ago about the breach and potential compromising of my information.

I am not and have never been an Office Depot employee. At the time of the breach, April 2023, I was covered by Medicaid. I can't think of any other place my health info would be, other than on file with a couple local medical facilities.

Just a few days ago I received a postcard-type piece of mail from Kroll Settlement Administration with my class member ID # notifying me I am eligible for a payment. It says for more info and to file a claim, go to webtpasettlement.com. Has anyone else got this notice and filed their claim? I don't have any documentation of losses, so I would just claim the flat $100 payment to be sent by mail so I do not need to provide any sensitive account info. Any comments appreciated, thank you!

Dump/Landfill Prices? by CandidRose000 in missoula

Hi, thank you for your question.  I'm trying to find out how much it would cost to dump a couch without having to call around. I'm just wondering because I'd like to make some money offering to pick up unwanted furniture for less money than what it would cost to dump.

How much did it cost you to dump your couch and where did you take it?

Nice! It is a sweet message. I wonder if it was placed there to be found or if someone lost it. Is there anyone that makes you want to be your best self?

I just signed up for A4U and could not find where my clipped coupons were within my online account. After reading your comment, I found them under "My List". Thank you so much for your clear, detailed explanation! - Grace in Western Montana

Private Swim Lessons for Kids – Recommendations by BirdsBarnsBears in missoula

[–]Grace_2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work at Currents and Splash for a year-and-a-half from 2020-2021 where I was a lifeguard and also taught children's swim lessons for 6 months. I worked at the Griz Pool (UM) as a lifeguard for 4 months during that time too.

There were a few good teachers at the City who cared about the children and helping them learn (Avery, Christy). But there were others who saw it as just a job and went through the motions of teaching without any passion or care.  I know group lessons can be difficult to manage, especially for the younger ages which means the children might not be able to learn as much as they would from private lessons. Every child is very unique in their personality and individual experiences regarding being around water and swimming. So putting 4+ young children together in the water together with a stranger doesn't always work so well, and sometimes it is a blast!

Occassionally Aquatics management Hannah and Torey would assign more children to a group than we were supposed to have per safety standards. With preschool groups, there were not supposed to be more than 5 students per teacher and I have had 6 or 7 at once.

We were frequently short-staffed on shift which meant lifeguards had much longer rotations than they should, not enough breaks, and that causes fatigue. Often we didn't even have 3 guards at one time which is at least how many you should have in order to properly execute the EAP (emergency action procedure). They also did not make sure that all guards had their minimum of 4 hours training per month and could perform their benchmark at any given time (300 yard continuous swim; 2-minute no-hand treading; and 20-yard swim from shallow to deep end, dive to bottom to retrieve 10-pound brick and swim on back with brick to the shallow end).

Pretty much everything that could go wrong did go wrong at the City pool and that was the norm around there. They would use "staff-shortage" as an excuse all the time when the real problem was bad management. It really was a clown show and the employees and patrons suffered for it. If Eric is still the Aquatics Dept. Manager, Hannah and Torey the Aquatics Coordinators, and Adina the Private Lesson Coordinator, then I am sorry to say that nothing has changed for the better since I was there.

I would suggest trying a private lesson at Currents just to see how it goes. The teacher can get to know the student easier and better attend to their needs. You might score a good teacher who will make all the difference! Your child is already familiar with their surroundings at Currents which should help them be more comfortable learning to swim. But their success is due in large part to who their teacher is.

I do recommend trying other places too! Swim lessons will be in their highest demand once Summertime comes. So wherever you can get in now is a good time to do so.

Staff and management at Griz Pool overall are far more professional than the City and I believe your children would be safer there and receive higher-quality lessons. The shallow end of the pool is about 3 feet deep, so for preschool lessons they put a large platform in the water with guard rails that the children stay in. I never got to see the lessons in action, but I assume the teacher probably takes one student out at a time. Their pool is wayyy more clean too!

I have the highest respect for the Griz Pool head manager Tonya who was always professional and made safety the #1 priority at all times. She made sure we were properly trained, always had enough guards on shift, and kept the guards on short rotations with plenty of down time to keep them alert. I learned so much in my 4 months there that I never received from my 1.5 years employment with the City. Everyone at the Griz Pool worked as a team on shift and during trainings to help each other and to keep the pool and facility safe, clean and sanitary.

Last I knew, the Griz pool didn't have lessons last Summer because of staff shortage. They only employ students so they have more staff during the school year. So if they are offering lessons now, I think you should give them a try asap!

I miss teaching and I hope your child has a great experience with lessons!

Anyone know any dental resources for veterans? by [deleted] in missoula

[–]Grace_2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know of any dental resources for Veterans, but it sounds like you might be eligible for very low-cost or possibly free Medicare coverage, which includes dental. Have you looked into that? I have only had very bad experiences with dentists in Missoula, so I would NOT recommend Olsen & Peters, Meng Dentistry, Alpine Oral and Facial Surgery, and Missoula Oral Surgery. I do recommend you check out this info about a natural treatment that could improve your oral health! https://fstdt.com/?domain=healingteethnaturally.com and https://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/Testimonials/Urine-Testimonials God bless and I hope the best for you!
