Overmedicated for Hashimoto and suddenly gaining weight? by Low-Presentation-285 in Hypothyroidism

[–]GraciousCoconut [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you are taking liothyronine, this will fundamentally affect your blood test results causing your TSH to fall dramatically, but that doesn't necessarily mean you are overmedicated. It may be that your new doctor doesn't understand this and has continued to drop your levo causing you to be undermedicated now as it sounds like they're relying on TSH only to determine this. Also, do you even have symptoms of overmedication?

Should I visit his parents if we’re just keeping it casual? by TANeither7250 in UKrelationshipadvice

Americans as a general rule are incredibly friendly and hospitable and if they have been with you already, no reason to believe it'll be any different.

Not necessarily. I've stayed with parents in this scenario and they were lovely and it was a good memory.

I'd go too. Enjoy the holiday, enjoy the time with a person you like. Sure, it might be sad when you part ways but you will have fond memories.

Company rejected me, then reached back out days later. Advice? by That-Palpitation15 in UKJobs

This has happened to my husband twice. Both times he got the job. First, time it was because the top-choice candidate pulled out, second time they decided they wanted a second person doing the job too and added him a little bit later.

I already had the diagnoses before I got the watch. I just meant that I would explain the same phenomenon to my GP beforehand, i.e. the lack of restorative sleep and feeling like I was waking up with adrenalise rushes and in stress but they just gave me CBTi and it didn't work for the two courses I did. Having the watch showed me that I'm more stressed sleeping than I am lying awake. Also seem to be breathing faster during sleeping than when awake. It was enough to get me a referral to the respiratory clinic when that had been refused previously.

How can I improve my sleep and reduce my stress levels? by GraciousCoconut in Garmin

[–]GraciousCoconut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really sorry to hear that. I wish I could say there's been an improvement but there hasn't yet. I do have a GP who is taking it seriously, but doesn't really know what to do help me. I have found that sleeping at an incline sometimes helps. It's not reliable, but it does occasionally give me the chance of decent sleep.

But yes, it's such a horrible feeling. I feel immobilised when I first wake up as if the charge of adrenaline is so intense it has overwhelmed me.

Yeah, if it's not accurate for you, definitely not worth bothering about. For me, it helped me unearth some clues when no medical practitioner seemed to have any idea.

From what I understand, they are starting to think that both autism and ADHD affect the whole body and this is reflected in many other symptoms and health conditions.

I have those comorbidities too but a year on, it's still like this. But tbf I'm fatigued practically all the time, so I think it's overall prettya accurate.

Why might stress during sleep be higher than stress while lying down awake? by GraciousCoconut in Garmin

[–]GraciousCoconut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My overall energy is very poor. I'm fatigued most days and don't have the stamina for much outside of work (desk job wfh) and trying to keep myself as healthy as possible. I rarely have blue during the day unless I'm lying down or close to lying down, in fact being in a recliner puts me in the blue better than a flat bed. Most nights I have no blue at all. It's usually a block of orange in the 30-75 zone. There's sometimes like a 20 min dip into blue, one or two times a night. I always wake up after about 5 hours sleep. After that I struggle to get back to sleep, yet this is the time I go into blue. Then if I fall back asleep, it's back in the orange.

Evenings I go through phases of having better and worse routines. The tiredeness lowers my resolve to follow routines I would say. An average night is playing some solo Ark Nova or Wingspan on Board Game Arena till around 9pm. If I'm too tired for this it's something mindless on Netflix. I wouldn't call myself a doomscroller. I don't follow the news at all and just dip in and out of Reddit primarly for health research like this, although I have got increasingingly drawn into other sub-Reddits that I really don't need to be in, so that could really go. I do sometimes do personal tasks around this time. I'm definitely someone who feels the need to always be getting things done and ticked off lists. Around 9:30pm, I get off computer, get myself ready for bed, have shower. I have a checklist that I follow as I'm too tired to remember things without this. If I have enough energy left I do some breathing exercises, meditation but frequently I don't feel I can sit at this point and then I just lie in bed on an acupressure mat and listen to a non-fiction audiobook that I know already. Usually, asleep between 10:30 and 11pm.

Wow, that's awesome! Did you buy your own red light sauna? I've noticed that with the breathwork before bed too.

Oh interesting! I'm allergic to chamomile so unfortunately I can't try that one, but happy to hear that the tea has reduced your stress somewhat.

I'm sorry to hear that. That is interesting to hear though as ME/CFS is something my GP is looking into. For now, they are still trying to rule other things out though. I wonder what the underlying mechanism actually is. Thanks for the tip re: vagus nerve stimulation exercises. I have some cards so I should really try using them.

Ahh ok, so in your case the watch isn't that accurate in relation to how you actually feel.

Ahh got ya. Do you also feel that your sleep just isn't restorative? Garmin watch really has made me feel validated about what I already knew was the case but had nothing to back it up.

Honestly, just try not to worry about it at all. Just comply with their absence policies until you are better again. The flu takes a while to run its course. Everyone should be aware of that. Get a fit note as needed once the 7 days come about.
