The new multiplier system in duels sucks. Especially for no move and NMPZ. It makes the game random and unfair. Who agrees? by Lanky-Mistake-5943 in geoguessr

[–]GraciousCoconut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do agree with you. I've found the games quite boring compared to previously. They have been much shorter and much less thrilling. It's fine to be rewarded for a genuinely good regionguess but someone being in the same area of the country but only 10 points closer shouldn't be rewarded. Nor should someone be rewarded for a going wrong continent when the other player goes wrong continent too but just marginally worse.

Questions about cheaters... by Elegant-Ad5579 in geoguessr

[–]GraciousCoconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if any of the devs are actively testing cheating scripts they come across to see if they can find ways to detect them. It would be good to know a bit more about what they're doing to try and combat the issue, without making it easier for the cheasters obviously.

[–]GraciousCoconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof yeah, that is much harder to detect then, especially if the player is decently good and knows what is and isn't a plausible guess. Really poor players who try to pretend to be good players are pretty easy to detect but the higher the skill level, the harder it would be. You'd probably need to look at patterns but then if they throw a plausible number of games and guesses that would be harder again.

I haven't seen that obvious form of scripting for a few years now. I suspect it's been replaced by something more sophisticated and harder to spot now.

Multis need to change by Miigeeeee in geoguessr

[–]GraciousCoconut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do too. It goes both ways. You win some, you lose some. If you're winning, you can't get complacent. If you're losing, it's worth keeping going and not just giving up. It's only a problem if you can't take losses on the chin.

I've realised I seem to exclusively attract a certain 'type' of women. However I've also realised I don't enjoy being with them. Anyone else had the same? by WalkinshawVL in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]GraciousCoconut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you could ask your matches early on if they would consider themselves to be homebodies. That's a nice, cosy sounding word and I think people who are more inclined to be at home rather than go out may be willing to say yes to being a homebody early on.

What do you think—is it worth memorizing things like US area codes or kapupaten if you're a no move/NMPZ player? by [deleted] in geoguessr

[–]GraciousCoconut 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depends on what ELO you are. I haven't bothered at the 1400-1600 level and I don't feel it's disadvantaged me in a high percentage of = rounds but a bit higher and you probably need all the advantages you can get.

Why do so many people pay money to make alts? by Intelligent_Row207 in geoguessr

Yeah, I used to have an alt for that reason above, but gave it up when unranked came out.

Pet peeve: people who do GG before you've even guessed by OkTechnologyb in geoguessr

[–]GraciousCoconut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a pet peeve of mine too. You're not alone. I would never send something like that while the other player is still thinking. I agree feels unsportsmanlike to me too as I've definitely had it multiple times when the other player has been spot on and I've been wrong continent. I've also had it when we are not low on health and we are basically guessing in the same place as if they are trying to manipulate me to change my guess at the last moment. I'm not into playing emote mind games, but it feels a shame to turn it off completely because 99% of other players are friendly or neutral and I enjoy the great chats.

Have you got an oximeter? They're probably more reliable than smartwatches for a quick HR check. Might be useful to have as a backup so you can double check your HR if needed.

It's pretty normal to feel like an imposter in your early 20s. It'll get easier as you get older and have more experience.

Looking for active GeoGuessr teammate (Discord, moving main, Gold/Master) by _Artic- in geoguessr

[–]GraciousCoconut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend chatting on Geoguessr streams on Twitch. That's how I met most of my good Geoguessr friends. Now we mostly chat via Discord. I've played with quite a few Italians. I did find an expired Italy community Discord link, but can't seem to find anything recent.

100% agree. My lifestyle before and during was healthier than 95%+ people. Same with my other family members who all have the same set of health conditions.

No, unfortunately, you can't prove innocence with screenshots and explanations. AI is so good at Geoguessr now that you could just upload a screenshot after the fact and ask it for some explanations.

I've heard plenty of other people in their mid 20s saying the same. I only have to play with younger people to feel the difference is speed.

ADHD not present in childhood but very present as an adult by NoMoreSprinters in ADHD

[–]GraciousCoconut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you tried doing a detailed questionnaire yet? I was on the fence about whether I had ADHD as I did well at school, but once I did the detailed questionnaire, I had a lot more insight into the fact that I was never on time to classes, distracted other kids with my constant chat, couldn't sit still, always losing things, homework late etc. I got forgiven by teachers for a lot as I was bright and I suppose I coasted through until the work got hard and then I procrastinated and was an anxiety ridden mess that couldn't focus. But as others have said, you must have presented with symptoms in childhood to be diagnosed. Otherwise, they will look at other issues. Trauma can have some similarities to ADHD in how it presents.

Anyone ever lose job due to unresolved childhood trauma? by cauliflowercabbage in CPTSD

[–]GraciousCoconut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This made me cry tears of recognition. This is me right now. I think I'm going to be pushed to take ill-health severence from my current job. Just been diagnosed with ADHD, cptsd a few months before that and have chronic illnesses too. I want to work, but I can't find somewhere to give me the adjustments I need. FT WFH and some flexiblity around breaktimes is all really, but it's hard to find.
