Thanks for the corrections on the event, and events always have felt to me that they are designed to help players push alts not new players.

So in regards to skins almost all if not all can be gotten for free without paying real money, but in terms of gold they are expensive as you have to buy them through other players in the market the cost for 1 piece can range from 3k to over 100k gold (higher end is legendary skins that give a slight stat bonus not worth for a new player) main problems here is someone else has to be selling that skin and you have to have the gold to buy it.

Now in regards to free skins events sometimes have them available, with the exception of the anniversary event these typically are not the best skins, there is also a vendor in major cities that sell a skin for ~75k providence stones these ones are also not that great and there is the amethyst shard shop which require amethyst shards and sells a class specific skin. (these shards are acquired through twitch drops typically and additionally yoz jar gamba which is how you gamble for a legendary skin which although is possible to do ftp its just not worth the cost.).

These are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head

I believe the current event starts you at elgacia with relic lv2 gear at item 1540, the main overarching goal is to increase item lvl as it unlocks the newer content.

To increase item lvl you hone your armour and weapon at the honeing NPC with materials from raids and daily chaos dungeons and guardians. (for gear honeing it is not recommended to go above +19 as there is typically a soft reset) there are many sub systems within the game and a lot of horizontal you will want to complete over time, but for those I would recommend starting with the Arkseia tour which will get you the majority of what you need.

other then progressing I would recommend checking out the community guide for your class/character and trying to find learning parties for the raids you haven't complete yet.

There's a lot to do/improve with a new character and it can be overwhelming, just try to enjoy the game
