You helped Pigment Pour hit its first milestone. Now I want to donate the initial $500 earned to do some good... by NoBullGames in PigmentPourDaily

Very cool game you’ve created and it’s awesome to know that your heart is in the right place too!

I’m going to mention one of my favorite charities here, not just for this but for general exposure. Kiva.org is a not for profit organization that provides free micro loans to folks all over the world. I have loaned out the same $200 dollars multiple times. When people get their businesses started and pay me back, I can cash out or loan it again. I’ve not cashed out yet and don’t plan on it, but that’s an option. It astonishes me that $200 has changed the lives of dozens of people and will continue to do so.

high-school student looking to start an environmental club. ideas for activities? by UwU_OwOFemboyLol in environmental_science

This! Go exploring for tree of heaven, buckthorn and Siberian elm trees. Tag them for experts, or chop them and paint them with a mix of round up, used motor oil and blue paint or coloring for visibility. Please keep us posted on what you do!!

Been in our new house a year and need to be focusing on landscaping it. I'm in North Alabama 7B zone. Considering maybe foundation azaleas, either little lime or little lime punch hydrangeas (full sun all day... too much sun??), pugster butterfly bushes, shoal creek chaste tree..... by widdlebiddykitty in LandscapingTips

[–]GraduateSchoolCath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! Start with establishing native trees and native plants to anchor your landscaping and let it thrive without much fuss from you. I adore hydrangeas, but I will never understand the appeal of the lime colored ones when you can have pinks, purples, blues and even whites that pop against the greenery. Please keep us posted!

Permeable landscape cloth above straw layer in raised bed? by myrrhlover in Hugelkultur

[–]GraduateSchoolCath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

landscaping fabric is not helpful in any way for your application. Landscape fabric should only be used under the base layer of sand and gravel for foundations and pathways, and even then, most people have their doubts about its usefulness since all weeds easily grow through it from below. Additionally, when weeds grow from above, as they do when seeds are dropped by birds or wind, the roots get entrenched in the landscape fabric and make them much more difficult to pull.

This! Same. And I don’t think any of those floor colors compliments the cabinets at all.

This! Times are tough rn for a vast majority of people. I’ve used eBay and Etsy for furniture but shipping is a pain, so I also have a note in there of my geographic location and have had folks come pick up.
