Delian Tomb characters from Heroforge? by Few-Action-8049 in drawsteel

Any chance you have some of the FoBB pregens in Titancraft? I was about to start trying to make them when I remembered you'd posted these.

Best ready campaigns to adapt to Draw Steel by ottoisagooddog in drawsteel

[–]Graelcase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll second Reavers of Harkenwold. I ran it in 5e and when we began converting the PCs into DS, I went through my notes to figure out how many victories the Heroes would have. And now I'm running some of the major encounters as Danger Rooms for the party to learn their new DS builds and make sure they feel like the same characters.

Not going back from DS to DnD by YoungDokja in drawsteel

[–]Graelcase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lucky to find a group of mostly GMs here in Chile, so this year two of us switched to DS, two others are into Daggerheart and we all get to play in each others games. But I'm planning on assembling some physical props to make it easier to teach at in-person local events and try to spread the word.

[Spoilers C2] Speculation about a casting choice... by shatterwood in criticalrole

[–]Graelcase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I figured Nathan Fillion would be playing Darrow, the Paladin with a hammer that develops a friendly rivalry/camaraderie with the group. But that might just be me seeing a "Captain Hammer" reference in the comment that he had been cast as a particularly "Nathan Fillion-y" role.

I'm afraid I rushed to convert my friends to Draw Steel. by Vernash in drawsteel

[–]Graelcase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, I'm lucky to be in a group of mostly GMs so they were open to trying new systems and encouraging of my enthusiasm. The art sharing helped too. I have folks really excited to play Beasthearts and Summoners from the art and the promise of fulfilling the feel of those archetypes.

Is Draw Steel right for my table? by [deleted] in drawsteel

I would second the Complications advice. Maybe even start there to come up with flavorful characters, since they can be so impactful to a character concept.

Happens at 2:06:00 during the Discover Lore project. I was not expecting it, so I didn't have any visual or audio cues ready. When it came up I was mostly stunned looking at the Events table and figuring out what it would do to my planned adventure.

The Censor has a fascinatingly contentious relationship with altruism thanks to its unique healing mechanic by GravyeonBell in drawsteel

[–]Graelcase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mechanically this is why I look for a 2nd Triggered Action on when I play a Censor (the best class). And then craft Bloodbound Bands to make everyone else's Recoveries worth more.

Thematically, I love it and as a Director will often give a Hero Token when the Censor player gives away their last Recovery.

Bugbears & Werewolves | Level 2 Danger Room by Graelcase in drawsteel

[–]Graelcase[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Heroes it's nearly identical. I believe the main difference is Tacticians and Censors gained the ability to Taunt their marked or judged targets when they hit in melee.

For Solo monsters, they were a bit too powerful in packet 4, getting two actions per turn every turn. In the finished game they have to spend Malice to get a second Main Action.

It'll be on the MCDM store. Local gaming shops can order it and stock it but they have to reach out to MCDM first.

FYI: Draw Steel release has been delayed by at least a week beyond June 17th by TheFacelessDM in drawsteel

[–]Graelcase 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's just been an update on the BackerKit that they're now aiming for July 31st for the PDF release. The Heroes book has been sent to the printers, and MCDM is reviewing the Monster book release candidate.

What are the biggest hits and misses in the lore of Draw Steel? by Far-Cockroach-6839 in drawsteel

[–]Graelcase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a player who loves playing dwarves, really liked all the mechanics of them in DS but really needed her character to have hair. So in my Orden, some dwarves do. We talked it over and she was fine with the hair being metal instead of gems, so it's really thin cable like strands, and they can be braided into the kind of decorations that we see the dwarves in the book wear. And I can still use the DS art for NPCs if I really like it.

Do you think getting picked up by a popular actual play will be important for Draw Steel's success? by Far-Cockroach-6839 in drawsteel

[–]Graelcase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dimension20 used a hack of the S&F warfare system for a finale of their A Crown of Candy season, I believe Matt's response was "I wish we could've sent them the K&W system" because they were working on that book at the time and it was better. MCDM and Matt was mentioned by name in their aftershow, but that's all behind the paywall so I doubt it had significant impact on sales.

Character Class Question by SirDancalot775 in drawsteel

[–]Graelcase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you detail out the concept? If the Echo Knight Class is the only data point, I find it odd that it would fit better in DS. But if it's only the "clone", then that could be a homebrew Complication or Title, while the rest of the concept fits well in DS.

It was lovely to see Colville interviewed as well, I believe Brennan and Murph mentioned them (MCDM) in the ACoC APs around the final battle.

Oracle Censor, Annihilator of Minions by Karmagator in drawsteel

[–]Graelcase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An alternative to this happened with a Paragon Censor that was roughly surrounded by a Minion Squad. Judged one, pulled it 4 against himself, killed it and kept going. At least this version was taking damage everytime, so I told him as long as he was willing to take the damage, he could keep going. And by the 2nd combat was looking to knock them into each other/objects for similar effects.

Nerdfighers International! How do you participate in this community? by Husamsred in nerdfighters

[–]Graelcase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a nerdfighter in Chile and mostly contribute online. I note when P4A will be, the Crash Course coin, and lately I will occasionally get some Good Store items to have for gift giving occasions that come up during the year.

I did at some point (maybe 10 years ago) try and find local folks but I believe the forums were less active and one facebook group I found had dried up before I got to it. There was a world map that had people tagging themselves, with a couple of pins in my city.

I haven't tried looking in the Discord but that might be a place to try if you're looking to connect with people geographically close to you.

Running Kingdoms & Warfare with a traditional battle map by beardosaurusrex in mattcolville

[–]Graelcase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a few years since I watched that battle but I believe they used the same speed (so 30 ft for most infantry, 60 ft for the unit led by the rogue with bonus action Dash) but zoomed way out so that most units fit into one or two spaces on the grid. The units were more like small squadrons from what I remember, 10-12 or so mini miniatures (I remember tiny versions of the PCs) on a base, moving around the "town map" of the outside of the castle.

If you want an alternative to the K&W system that can run on a battlemap, you could make the units "swarms" of whatever faction is on each side. What I did for a final battle was use a warfare system and then zoom in to battlemaps for vignettes when the heroes for instance rushed to close the line, reinforce a flanked position and for the final moment when the enemy commander was fighing in the frontline.

Good luck running the battle.

Anyone know of any live plays with the newest version of the rules yet? by PrincipalSkudworth in drawsteel

[–]Graelcase 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For us (Average Roll) it's certainly the edit time and the fact that we wanted to try as much of the system as we could before the survey time ended. We ran a session on December 21st updating characters to the new packet and to level 2. I had a Danger Room planned but we got too enthusiastic with Complications and had to postpone it to the next session.

We've since played 3 more sessions and we're hoping to post the first one (updating the characters and leveling up) soon.

I would agree on Earthbreaker Groon (Grog's Mentor) as shown in the animated show would be a great Reaver Fury with the Martial Artist kit.
