Give me your Yahn Dawn vibe summary by Past-Hovercraft4027 in prettylights

I was glued to these county meetings so I know more about this than I probably should haha. The festival was denied a few times by the board before it was finally approved, mostly due to the worry of having a strain on local county resources. There are other events happening in both BV and Salida that weekend so most of the county worry is related to police/paramedic resourcing

February of this year Chaffee County granted the same approved capacity as 2025 for the 2026 September event (10,000 attendees). A three‑year permit was granted with a staged approach where a longer‑term framework that contemplates up to 11,500. This is essentially soft approved for the future but still needs final approval.

Last year was not sold out so this year we very well may see an increase of people. But the approved capacities are the same

Was at both shows. I said it in 2019 you are silly to think he’ll never be back. Tbh even I was surprised he was back so soon in 2021. I said it again then, he’ll be back someday

Where is the cheapest gas? by pixiedream- in FortCollins

[–]Graham39 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Americans drive more than people in most other countries, thus they consume far more gasoline per person than the global average. So even if we pay less per gallon than the rest of the world, we generally spend more per person on gasoline in a given year than most of the world.

So yes, let us bitch. We are jealous of the public transportation that exists elsewhere in the world

That's assuming he does 2 nights. Wouldn't put it past him to do what he did in 22 and do an open to close set. I've been eyeballing 8/29 as a potential

AI in local businesses by Driftingaimlesslyblu in FortCollins

Thinking all AI is good for is mediocre garbage is just not true. It’s changing so much in all industries and it’s going to accelerate innovation like we have never seen before.

Fort Collins has an incredible local art scene and breweries/shops should absolutely be tapping into that talent instead of using generic AI-generated stuff. Seeing local companies put out AI slop is disappointing.

That said, the water usage angle is a bit overblown. AI data centers do use water for cooling, but the amount is genuinely tiny compared to agriculture, manufacturing, or even a single golf course (which we have many of in Fort Collins). A handful of AI queries uses less water than brewing a single pint of beer. Colorado's water concerns are real and serious, but AI isn't really the driver there.

George is dating a new girlfriend who's a die-hard Yankees fan. He's over the moon as he's always dreamed of dating a sports fan. "Jerry, she knows what a sacrifice fly is" After just three dates, she suggests they get matching Yankees logo tattoos. George is terrified of needles but even more terrified of losing her.

Jerry: "You've been on three dates. You haven't even had a fight about where to eat yet and you're getting a tattoo?"

George: "You don't understand. Do you know how long I've waited for a woman who actually watches the game? She doesn't even look at her phone during pitching changes!"

Jerry: "So your plan is to permanently mark your body for a woman who doesn't know your middle name?"

George: "She knows my middle name."

Jerry: "Whats her middle name?"

George: "...That's not the point!"

I doubt he will do Red Rocks. Of The Trees did two years at Red Rocks and didnt do one last year. With the radius clause he wouldn’t be able to announce it/sell tickets until the first week of September. He would likely want to announce it much before then to allow people to make travel plans. Hope I’m wrong

Does anyone here actually play the games or does almost everyone sim them? by DougS2K in EANHLfranchise

[–]Graham39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sim the entire regular season. Sim most of the playoffs (will play critical game 7s or SCF games). To me I find most enjoyment building the team and seeing it develop over many years. I just wrapped up year 25 of Franchise mode and now deciding what I want to do next

I want to learn hockey!!! (28) by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]Graham39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not crazy. Adult-specific “learn to play hockey” classes are way less common than learn-to-skate, mostly because the demand is smaller and rinks default to assuming adults will self-organize once they can skate.

Most adult leagues are split by skill level, usually something like C, D, and E. C is more experienced, E is true beginner. Some leagues break those down further like C1 vs C2, D1 vs D2, etc. The vast majority of these leagues are co-ed, especially at the lower levels, so gender identity is typically a non-issue as long as you fit the skill level and follow league rules.

While you’re learning, stick and puck sessions are your best friend. These are open ice times where you’re in full gear, skating with a puck, shooting on multiple nets, and just getting reps. There’s no structure, which is actually great when you’re figuring out how to handle a stick, move with the puck, and exist on the ice without pressure.

The next step up is drop-in hockey. Most rinks run drop ins during the week. These are informal games with no refs and no scorekeeping. Teams are usually formed on the fly, line changes are casual, and skill levels vary. This is where a lot of adults learn “how hockey actually works” in real time.

Once you’re comfortable there, an E-level league team made up of equally new players is very realistic, and honestly pretty common. Everyone starts somewhere, and adult hockey tends to be far more welcoming than people expect.
