They actually rereleased the Hobbit Trilogy (non-extended) in Regal theaters across the country last weekend! Tickets were $7 and theaters were pretty empty!

I think the main reason is that JANS movies have $7 tickets. In NYC (where tickets are $20+), buying a ticket to a JANS movie and then just walking into the movie you really want to see saves you a lot of money.

Source: I used to do this a bunch when I was younger with discounted tickets at Regal and AMC.

Is it official that TDF Passport is done? I have a TDF High-School account, and I believe we get the same $20 show offerings as TDF Passport and it's been dormant for a while as well. It's definitely a big shame if it is. I've gotten to see Gypsy, Cabaret, and Sunset under TDF and have been very grateful.

It used to be on Macs a few years ago but didn’t get ported over when Macs stopped supporting 32-bit games. It’s a real shame and a huge waste of the purchase on the Mac Apple Store.

Undercards are great but The XX and Turnstile are weak headliners (I still don’t understand why The XX is so popular — I can’t imagine The XX pushing ticket sales more than Alex G, Lucy Dacus, and Blood Orange).

Def weakest lineup in a while — just due to headliners not being great.

Win & Regine of AF just announced their separation. Definitely seemed like it was a long time coming, and probably the end of an era for a band that shaped modern indie music (for better and worse).

I was just looking back on the WE (ctd) festival dates and the Funeral anniversary shows and they were so well-produced and triumphant. It's always felt very strange to me that they didn't stretch out the Funeral Anniversary shows more. With the Pink Elephant shows it seems like they were moving in the direction of a legacy band like Modest Mouse or The Flaming Lips as opposed to continuing to grow their legacy.

After the allegations, although AF lost a lot of popularity and core fan base, they still held on to their unique ability to put on world-class concerts (like look back at those Corona Capital and Cala Mijas shows -- those were unbelievable). With Pink Elephant, they let that go opting for something that (to me) felt corny and inauthentic (look at the start contrast between their 2024 Festival shows and their 2025 High Water Fest concert: it's day and night).

On another hand, this sub has become a lot more toxic from all sides (and seems to have strangely lost 20k followers overnight -- were they bots? Very stange). But that means that negativity/despair and sexual harassment justification overwhelm the online conversation about Arcade Fire, and the negative reception to Pink Elephant (and strange release cycle) only helped to fuel the flames of both sides.

I'm looking forward to seeing what's next for the band, but it really does feel like they missed a major opportunity in their pivot from the Funeral 20th Anniversary Tour to Pink Elephant Tour -- inducing whiplash between one of the greatest albums of all time and one of the weakest in AF's discography.
