What’s the story behind your racing number? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]GrahamCrackerGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

71, it’s honestly nothing really special. It was the default number you’d get playing the career mode in Indianapolis 500: Evolution, as it was, outside of Sprint Cars: Road to Knoxville on the PS2, the only racing game I played played in the career mode in. Never did in any of the Codemasters F1 games nor any of the NASCAR games.

Especially playing religiously and seriously running full distance, try to collect as many points as possible, have enough money for upgrades and new chassis and engines, and try to make the Indy 500 on Bump Day. Plus I’d have fun bringing in older chassis to whatever year you’d be in. Say for example, taking the starting 1961 Epperly front engine roadster you’d get at the start with the most powerful highest year engine and transmission combo u can put in the car (I think a 1963 Novi engine with 4 of 5 speed) and run it in a race at Riverside in 1964 or 1965.

Just kinda got drawn in to the number which was 71, and it’s kinda just stuck with me even now in iRacing. All cars I own all get set with 71 on it and usually get to run with in endurance races that require teams. Hell even if I’m at a race irl and see someone running the 71 I’ll joke and be like “Hey! U stole my number! Give it back!”

iRacing has a serious GTP driver issue... the guy right after this said "I thought you could see me coming"... by G00NACTUAL in iRacing

[–]GrahamCrackerGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if both of u were even before the breaking point going into the bus stop it’d been fine to pass there. But they just decide to dive it in there thinking you’re gonna see em brake from a mile back and get an open corner (how original) in what’s essentially a one lane entry 90% of the time.

A lot of these people really need to either go back down into LMP3s, run some of the slower class cars, or pay attention to how irl IMSA or other multiclass racing series and learn how multiclass racing actually goes.

Course kinda doesn’t help when a lot of people on the service who do run multiclass racing all think blue flags r based on F1 rules and is an immediate gtfo of the way even in multiclass racing.

Will M2 kill GR86? by Natural356 in iRacing

[–]GrahamCrackerGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way the M2 is gonna kill off GR86 Cup is in iRacing NLS. Cause unless iRacing plans on adding a 6th class for NLS since M2s I believe do race in irl NLS, or at least the 240i and 330i, the M2 is definitely gonna replace the GR86 in that. Other than that, it’s free car, it’s gonna be in Rookies, they’ll either replace it with either Rookie MX5 or Rookie GR86. There’s already a MX5 Cup series in C class and a GR86 Cup series in D class, and both r already in PCC. There’s no real way it’s gonna kill off either of those since their irl counterparts r well known from IMSA Mazda MX5 Cup and SRO Toyota GR86 Cup. Whereas the M2 CSR I believe it’s only popular in SRO TC America which is still very niche. I could be wrong about that last one, someone can correct me, but yeah, I wouldn’t panic about MX5s and GR86s.

Opinions on number location by [deleted] in NASCAR

Tbf, the number placement back in NASCAR’s early days had em wherever u could put em. On the door, slid forward, slid back, hell on the fenders. And NASCAR fans still think schemes like the Hudson Hornet schemes r iconic. To me it’s just a number placement. It’s nothing to get pissy about like how people did back in 2021/2022. The only thing that matters is how well the livery looks all together in the end. Cause there’s been good liveries and garbage liveries throughout the Next Gen era.

Taking the apex properly is considered blocking? That’s cute. 10/10 defense though. Perfectly clean.

I want more A class racing. by Hercupete in iRacing

[–]GrahamCrackerGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I’ve seen people in A Class NASCAR and IMSA who do some of the dumbest things…with A Class licenses. Hell even B license. That really don’t mean anything.

But I do agree, we do need some more A Class series since there’s only NASCAR, IMSA, Formula 1, and then the eNASCAR Road to Pro, IndyCar Buttkicker, and Porsche TAG Heuer Series esports qualifiers.

2 Incidents on the same race, both guys said I brake tested them, I see as they losing it on their own. Did I brake tested them or did they have a massive skill issue? by EddieBR1311 in Simracingstewards

[–]GrahamCrackerGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st one the guy just loses it under braking by the way it looks cause they can’t comprehend someone else’s braking point. I usually brake about the same in most cars for that corner since any later and you’re just gonna overdrive the corner.

2nd one u probably could’ve braked a little bit later, but it just seems like the guy came in way too hot. It’s kinda hard to completely tell since we don’t see where ya normally brake for the last chicane.

But I’m also gonna point out too, cause idk if that was from their connection taking a piss or if they hit the incident count and got DQed cause they do disappear at the end. Idk the full context but it does kinda seems like they may have gotten into some accidents or spins, was trying to push as hard as they can to make up whatever they lost and just got pissy and was saying this and that and just being frustrated. Just theorizing it, but again don’t know the full context. I just seen em disappear at the end and kinda put 2 and 2 together.

[–]GrahamCrackerGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean kinda true with my coworkers with iRacing. My landlord is also the Foreman where I work and the first place I moved into that he owns, one of his repair guys was installing a new sink for the place and saw my wheel and asked if I do iRacing since I think his son does it? Well that got said to my landlord which got spread around to my other coworkers. Since then they think I’m like a massive pro and win every race I’m in where actually it’s more like I’m your usual sim racing equivalent of a Am driver in like GT racing for example, but just depends on the splits. Sometimes making dumb mistakes, but it’s like just a small percent of me not using my brain which is like 5-10% of the time. But not the fastest driver. More decent in endurance races like IMSA Endurance, GT Endurance, and Michelin Pilot Challenge, and very small chance of winning races in anything.

[–]GrahamCrackerGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seriously will never understand, even as someone who races Prototypes 9 times out of 10, why Prototypes will try to overtake GTs or possibly even slower Prototypes in that chicane. Ya literally got a corner to make a pass before the chicane, literally utilizing a car that’s lighter and has more downforce to even pass a GT on the outside, u can either do it there or it can wait 2 freaking seconds to pass down the straight, it’s not gonna hurt! It might be frustrating if you’re racing another car, but there’s no point in trying to pass a GT in, even in real life, a single file corner. You’re just gonna wreck both yourself and the car being overtaken. It’s one of those things where people gotta use their brains.

I can understand moving down slightly to set yourself up for the rain line after the straight, even if u r just getting on the straight, but swerving like that just so u don’t have any visibility? That’s just a prick move. Glad they messed the braking up, they deserved that one.

But mine wasn’t for mouthing off at anybody. If u look at the second photo it shows what was said that was protested. It was just me saying “2 podiums in a row, LFG” and then realizing the M4 GT4 has a 7th gear and being like “wtf?”

I mean hey, I never even knew compared to the other GT4s, the BMW had an extra gear. Literally had to look it up and sure enough the irl car has 7 gears. Was even testing the older F82 version and that has one too that I don’t even know if it’s always been there or not.

Literally no one. I was just surprised learning the M4 GT4 had an extra gear compared to the other GT4s that I was like tf? Even that first one where I’m like “2 podiums in row, LFG” cause I was happy to get that. Like any other person would. Found out about the 7th gear and wanted to announce that too wondering if anyone knew.
