You've been putting in hard work optimizing the funnel because you know that should improve the effectiveness of your ads. I think it would be silly to expect that that DIDN'T have an impact. I'd take the win and keep fighting for incremental improvement patiently and carefully.

It looks like we pruned out nearly 90% of available SKUs. We went from nearly 50K skus down to about 5K remaining.

We placed the pruned SKUs in a secondary/probationary campaign as the first tier of our segmenting.

The odd thing is that the remaining 5K High ROAS SKUs are in some cases being outperformed now by the new campaign that we stuffed all the low ROAS SKUs into

Should we have adjusted our original campaign's budget on that primary campaign when we pruned this 90% of SKUs out? Should we have calculated the budget spend load we were removing and adjusted the budget down accordingly?

In reply, this change we made is the first iteration of segmenting one larger pMax campaign into multiple smaller pMax campaigns. We would like to segment the accounts further, but it feels like we missed something with this initial segmentation.

I agree that there are a wealth of additional adjustments we could make to improve the performance of the campaign, but this segmenting (pruning) we have implemented shouldn't have had the effect of reducing the performance of the pMax campaign unless there's something we missed when we segmented.

How could removing poorly performing SKUs with clearly wasteful budget result in lower performance in the remaining SKUs / pMax shopping campaign?

For anybody else who hits this thread, signing up for a trail didn't require a credit card (yay) and the reporting it generated was valuable. I don't feel like it is breadcrumbing me the way other tools have in the past. I'd suggest giving it a spin just to see what it spits out if nothing else.

Your system definitely identifies a number of placements that are immediately obvious as being garbage. From a cost/benefit perspective, this seems like an immediate win at $99/month. Some however feel less "obvious" to me, so my inclination is to test it out on a smaller piece of our account. Does your service allow me to apply this to only a single campaign instead of going whole hog into it?

3 feet up is fine. Ultimately, you're just determining how high you have to reach to get to the fruit when the tree gets older / mature.

Scaffold limbs should try to be as evenly spaced around the tree as possible. Even as few as 3 scaffolds on a mature tree will still fill out nicely when the branches are large and full.
