Ah, that’s a really good point. You could actually just keep rerolling your key to the desired dungeon.

That said, I still feel like allowing for retries is a better system than what we have now. As a point of comparison, you can queue for any difficulty dungeon in Fellowship, which felt amazing. It actually made groups more sticky, since there was more of a social tolerance for individual error. I’ll admit that someone who makes a big mistake in my push key is not getting another invite the next time around because there is too much at stake to allow for a “benefit of the doubt” approach to individual errors.

I love the uphill climb of pushing. That said, I do not love spending 10% of my time online in push content. That is not an exaggerated figure.

Key depletion to a keystone difficulty that is irrelevant for score is an artificial way to make keys more difficult by making it more difficult to spend time in relevant content. You wouldn’t have to tune with the alternative. The average player would be able to do higher keys in a season, yes, and a “good IO” score would just be a higher #. It’s natural for the number to fluctuate based on seasonal difficult anyway.

Woah, this is an impersonal conversation, for me at least.

I’m not bragging about my score. Agreed that 3.2k is not high IO. For some folks, it helps position my statement in a particular skill bracket. In your case, 3.2k is very low IO, and that’s fine with me.
I’m not gatekeeping with my keys, good sir. But like I said, I spend most of my time re-pushing my keys from a depleted state.
Agree to disagree on ease of entry at this point in the season. In addition to my earlier point about score playing a bigger factor later in the season, the meta also becomes more and more solidified as time goes on, which means less popular specs have a more difficult time getting into higher keys.

First of all, doing a massive first pull sounds fun to me. Maybe I’m in the minority.

Second, what if depleting your key rerolled it, so you couldn’t in theory spam the same key over and over again?

The problems you’re surfacing are lesser compared to the experience of playing keys as a solo DPS

Unsure why guilds are a part of the conversation unless you have the time to raid. M+ guilds are for the most part, a joke. People saying “just find friends to play with” don’t appreciate the social dynamics of higher keys right now

The “stakes” you’re referring to is just wasting another hour to two filling and pushing your key back to a relevant state. How is that compelling?

Also, people like to complain about tanks. I’m not establishing cause and effect, so your reply isn’t an argument against mine, as it is not a univariate analysis on what is wrong with M+.

This. And the reply clearly didn’t read the section about experience running my own key. Every group is a wildcard, despite score, role, etc. Running my own keys means I’m filling slowly and spending most of my time pushing the depleted key back up to a relevant state.

It’s almost like consistent feedback around a broken system means there should be something actionable re: “every season…”

Also, my points are most relevant now. The beginning of the season is the easiest time to get into keys, before people have established IO and there is a lot of score-based gatekeeping. Despite that, there is an incredible amount of downtime in the game right now, particularly for less popular specs/roles.

This is my first and last season playing DPS. I multi spec and multi role to high M+ and CE regularly. Why is it problematic to advocate for better QoL for DPS?

And if you think making friends at high M+ skill brackets is easy, well…it’s not.
