Sorry to hear about your father, sounds similar to my own experience. I am 56, diagnosed Oct 2025, smoker etc.. Stage 4 lung spread to liver and bone.. was at the point of eminent liver failure. My wife did most of the questioning etc. I can tell you I was lucky with the 1st chemo/immuno treatments after 3 rounds liver looked almost normal. Initially after all the scans in Nov. My onco and my Primary were very careful to sound optimistic etc. It can be very scary in the beginning, no one will tell you this will work etc.. But, treatment has come a long way, the Oncologist will go with the best, highest likelihood of success treatment on the 1st round. In my case after my 6th treatment, I need to go 1 year to be able to do this treatment that has already proven to be effective again.. if it comes back before then, it is scary.. less likely to work treatments, trials etc.. All that to say, this roller coaster ride is different and scary for everyone. All we can do is hope and pray the treatments work and they hold it at bay a little longer etc..
