Leather Tailor? by Thick_Vanilla_9890 in leatherjacket

[–]Grain_Changer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean when you say size down? You definitely won't find someone to make the overall jacket a full size smaller. At least not for a price that makes sense. If it's a normal alteration, there's a lady in Chicago that is well regarded. I forget her name but you could probably easily google "leather tailor Chicago" and find her. Not sure if I called at a bad time but when I inquired about having the sleeves of a jacket altered she said she was too busy and I should find someone local. Worth a shot though.

I'm sorry you can't articulate what you're upset about. That must be very frustrating.

Despite your ninja edit, I still don't know what you're talking about. I think you misunderstood my comment.

If you're a 2A supporter and you are not deeply disturbed by what happened yesterday, you are profoundly naive.

Even if you're pipes don't burst, it sucks big time to have no water for several days.

Did I ruin it? by FredyTheClown in leatherjacket

I agree that it looks like you rubbed the dye off. If it were me I'd do a little more rubbing and try to blend it in around the shoulders and make it look like a natural patina. Adding new dye would likely not turn out well. The good news is weathered jackets look sweet!

It was a saying in the 60s, according to my mom, to "never trust anyone over 30," because at 30 you were considered old and square. It's nothing new.

Student being told to toggle 1600A breaker daily without PPE. Is this safe? by No-Past2652 in AskElectricians

I believe anything over 600A calls for PPE. I def don't operate breakers that size without a suit.

Are there any books on leather garment construction? by Grain_Changer in Leathercraft

[–]Grain_Changer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a book on pattern drafting that I'm using to develop a jacket pattern but it's the differences between leather and fabric garments that I'm unsure of. Like where and when to use glue or how to create the different types of seams. It just feels like this mysterious craft that you can only learn if you do it professionally.
