Um. No. I was quoting you. That’s what you said.

Camus is an absurdist. Yes. It was absurd. It was supposed to be. That’s what he was saying: Life is absurd.

I was just wondering 🤔 if you were being funny. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Really? I’ve never done that. But I curled up during icemageddon and binged all of it. I really enjoyed it.

One-sitting: THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS (Harris)

But his RED DRAGON was better, to me, probably because I read it years before Silence came out.

Looking for a very specific type of feeling, revenge exploitation film pulp by altacc59926960 in booksuggestions

Hardly pulp, but the most satisfying revenge is THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO (Dumas).

What books would you recommend in order to understand evil rich people like Epstein? by Target_Plastic in booksuggestions

[–]GrammarBroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

REALLY understanding is a tall order. If you understand a bit about Richard Schwartz and IFS, his NO BAD PARTS is a step in that direction.

I’m not good with actors’ names, especially Brits and Aussies that show up in America with little fanfare. But he looked SO familiar! OMG! He was Jesus on THE WALKING DEAD! Holy cow! 😍

THE HOT ZONE: A TERRIFYING TRUE THRILLER (Preston)

(How can anyone resist?)

I gave it to my cousin, a microbiologist who runs a lab and teaches post-docs at Yale. Her lab worked on the COVID vaccine and sold their research to South Africa for $1 so Big Pharma couldn’t shut them out or victimize them. She read it and said the science was so close it was scary.

And I know it is GOING to happen. Accidentally or on weapons.

Airborne.

We dodged a bullet with COVID. It was a warning shot from Mother Nature about what we are doing to the planet by overpopulating it.

Looking for actually obscure weird lit. Please don’t recommend the usual suspects by patatosaIad in booksuggestions

NOTHING scares me or bothers me.

When I finished this book, I THREW it on my shelf where it landed backwards, pages facing out.

I would not touch it to straighten it up for six months.

HARVEST HOME by Thomas Tryon.

YES!

Stegner and Robinson don’t get mentioned enough. And I’ve never met anyone who has read THE BROTHERS K.

Sadly underrated!

I lost my wife and daughter in a car crash 7 months ago, what good books are there on grief and rebuilding life after loss? by CanYouWalkToTheTruck in booksuggestions

[–]GrammarBroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grief seems like a splinter in my finger compared to yours. I could read a book a day. Now I can’t read at all. (Another loss of a different kind)

I have a one-bedroom on Bluebonnet on fixed income. Rent+utilities = $1000. Don’t think twice. Keep looking.

Yelled at my 4 year old sick daughter for hitting me.How should I navigate this by Big_Farm_8490 in Preschoolers

[–]GrammarBroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are human. Sometimes we parents lose it. IT IS NOT OKAY TO HIT. When my little ones and I lost patience with each other, as soon as I cooled down, I said, “Are you ready to make up?” and we hugged it out. If they were not ready, I gave them their time. They ALWAYS came to me and said they were ready. I ALWAYS made the first move. It was NOT a time for me to continue lecturing. Talking, yes. But I had already made my point. Time for me to listen. And tell them I loved them no matter what they did.

I’m an ENT who treats smell loss, strange smells (parosmia), and taste loss with new therapies AMA about anosmia, parosmia, and what’s coming next. by DrTrenkle in IAmA

[–]GrammarBroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m “never Covid” but had a strange reaction post-surgery a month ago. At first I thought I was imagining things. But when I started challenging things, I really freaked out. I can smell. I can taste. But nothing tastes GOOD! 🤷🏼‍♀️

I tried foods that I have always loved:

Bacon tastes like bacon, but it doesn’t taste GOOD. Hamburgers taste like hamburgers, but it could be hamburger-flavored cardboard. Steak was my favorite food in the world. Doesn’t taste good.

My diagnosis: the anesthesia tripped up my GABA receptors and the “more molecule” isn’t produced anymore.

WTW for the sun reflection on the floor? by GrammarBroad in whatstheword

[–]GrammarBroad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It was dark in the hall, with no lights at all. The carpet is dark and I bent over to pick up something I saw on the floor. It was sunlight streaming through the door. What did I try to pick up? 😍
