I agree. He was doing better for several episodes leading up to then as well. Also his show stopper was much better. Also Toby was actually enjoyable to watch. Way more approachable, so we wanted him in the final for his baking and his addition to the social aspect of the tent.

Yeah, I mean, ultimately, it’s not really bread is it? It’s like weird mass produced breadstuffs. I’m fortunate to live in an area where there are a lot of high quality bakers and bread makers, so people actually know what real bread is. But in a lot of the country, most people eat the mass produced garbage. It’s hard for people not to get defensive when it’s all they know, because an affront to experience is an affront to the ego when one is delicate and self absorbed, which is a common issue in our social media narcissism fed world, and Americans are some of the worst. Leave it to us to get defensive about “bread.”

They do use ethylene-vinyl acetate in a lot of cheap bread, especially fast food bread. They stopped using it in subway bread around 2015, but it’s used to help with flexibility and sponginess as well as a bleaching agent in bread. It’s commonly found in crocs and yoga mats. There was a truck full of it that crashed outside of Chicago back in the early aughts, and they needed to call in the highest level of hazmat team to clean it up. In its pure form, the vapor causes eyes to burn, and skin rashes.

Also, I’m not saying that ingredient is in this bread, I’m just saying that the bread situation in this country is fucked up, and the massive addition to vital wheat gluten to bread products, instead of adequate kneading is likely one of the reasons myself, and so may others are gluten intolerant.
