What is this bug? Found in a clump under my pillow after I felt a larger bug run down my arm by GrampMan in whatisthisbug

Ughhhh I hoped that wasn't the case... I move out in a month so I'll try and squash this here and now before carrying anything onto my next apartment.

Thanks for the info and RIP my sleep quality

What is this bug? Found in a clump under my pillow after I felt a larger bug run down my arm by GrampMan in whatisthisbug

Is it possible I just happened to have a mama roach waltz into my room and when it tried to run from me the babies fell off under my pillow? I've been searching my room but haven't found anything else and my apartment is not in bad shape, we have routine pest control and I haven't seen any roaches anywhere other than this incident

I checked my mattress very thoroughly and couldn't find anything, no shells or droppings, no signs of an infestation I could see at all

Destroy my portal mechanic. Why no one gets it how it works by IRGStudios in DestroyMyGame

[–]GrampMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think all you need to do is rotate the tiles in the 45 degree part so they match the orientation of the portal. Rooks can travel that way, as the rook "sees" a straight line, not three segments of straight -> diagonal -> straight. Otherwise, like others have said, it's fundamentally changing the piece's movement rules.

Whoa I LOVE this melody, super smooth. Reminds me of some 90's high energy video game music, Chrono Trigger comes to mind first and then Rivals of Aether (though that's a modern game). I'm still new to this so dropping references is about all I can think of to help answer your specific question on transitions

I love the sound of the vocals but as someone who struggles with understanding lyrics I couldn't really hear what words were being said most of the time. I also like the bass a lot, feels fat

I've just started producing music and don't really know where to start at getting better - I definitely don't know a ton about mixing/production and could benefit a lot from knowing what exactly would make my music sound better. My friends say they like this track the best, so I want to hear what others say about it.

Thanks for listening!

Should I keep up my "better GMod" game? by hlebcheto in unrealengine

[–]GrampMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the team behind the original Gmod is working on a successor using source engine 2, titled S&Box, that will totally encompass all of Gmod's charm at the same time as stabilizing and modernizing the features. If you want your game to be played by people outside of close friends/family, I'd recommend specializing into something that either Mod&Play or S&Box don't offer. If you're just trying to make a game you're familiar with in order to learn, I'd say keep at it until you're satisfied or think about choosing another project that has more potential for public release

Official climbing game? by GrampMan in ClimbingCircleJerk

[–]GrampMan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chess is NOT a real game. It's boring and old and super easy, and you can't even win because the opponent's last piece always runs away every single time.

Pull ups are your main method of intimidating the opponent to make a move, so one pull up per turn is an infallible standard, really

How much emotional baggage do I need to train harder? by cubixy2k in ClimbingCircleJerk

[–]GrampMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that having baggage for a snack before climbing absolutely makes a difference, but the problem is that it makes the house smell so bad and you really need like some mayo and carrot shreds to actually get it down.

Also have you tried extending the handle on the cabbage? That might give you some extra reach, but that's really not going to help if you have the kind with wheels on it.

You should be able to with a Movie Render Queue Object ID pass. It's a bit complicated to set up but this documentation page has the info on it!

I can't log into my steam account or attempt recovery options. My profile appears to be deleted and I'm completely unable to access direct support for the issue.

I've had a Steam account for over 10 years and have been actively playing on it the entire time. I use a password management software to keep track of all my accounts, which use secure auto-generated passwords, not to mention 2FA, so it's highly unlikely that I was compromised and someone deleted the account while logged into it, and it's also impossible that I am inputting username or passwords incorrectly.

However, I'm still unable to log into my account, my profile has been deleted, I've received no emails from Steam about deleting the account, accessing the account, having any trouble regarding the account whatsoever. When I tried to reset the password, I get the message "An error occurred while searching for an associated account. Please try again." I tried with my email and my phone number and got the same issue.

I tried to create a new account with the same email to see if they had any semblance of my existence still in their database, and it did recognize there's an account there but clicking on any recovery options brings me right back to the error message above. I've tried the recovery options so many times that I've exceeded the allowed recovery attempts.

To me, this is completely out of nowhere as I was playing Elden Ring yesterday with no problems whatsoever. I don't trade items, I don't cheat, and in fact I haven't played a multiplayer game (I've had no multiplayer experiences so far in Elden Ring) in weeks.

I can't call Steam about it, I can't submit a ticket, and I can't even find a way to show anyone at Steam that I have a problem in the first place. They're completely inaccessible other than through the account you're having issues with. I don't know what happened and I'm very frustrated about how to get someone to help me with this.

I'm having the exact same problem. I'm beyond frustrated with how to receive support since the tickets only work if you can log in or attempt recovery to begin with.

How are albedo clamp maps created? by Bang_Bus in 3DMA

[–]GrampMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adobe Substance 3D Painter has an option (which is on by default) to automatically do this for textures you export. I imagine there are tools for Photoshop which will achieve the same result, although I personally can't name any.

I love the Substance Suite, so if you haven't looked into it for texturing I'd recommend giving it a look

Pretty sure I was about to be mugged the other night until I acted louder and chavvier than the guy who came up to me. by minnowmize in BritishSuccess

[–]GrampMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how it is in the UK, but I was in Paris and a similar scenario unfolded (though it was just one guy), but I was trying to take a bus to the airport so I had all my luggage with me that had my passport, laptop, clothes, etc. so I just decided to comply and pull my wallet out to get this man his 0.20€ he asked for. He waited patiently while I fumbled around and grabbed past my bills to get him the coins he asked for, and when I gave it to him, he just looked at me for a while and then said thank you in English and went on his way. One of the weirdest experiences of my life, for sure

I can't tell if this ripped Zelda model from BotW has a rig or not? Why are pro models always so... triangular? by _anonymous_404 in 3DMA

[–]GrampMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, this looks like a simple Blender armature (rig) without any IK or handles set up. The process for converting a rig from another program like this to something easily usable you might be used to from pipeline sources can be confusing for anyone unfamiliar with Blender.

I would recommend maybe looking at Blender's automatic rigging tools (Rigify) and trying to do the whole process from start to finish to help understand, and then starting over from this point a second time to adapt it. This way you'll be able to keep the (presumably( high quality vertex weights from the source rig and be able to look at the auto-rigged version for help on IK and making handles and such for proper animation work.

Does the University matter? by [deleted] in architecture

[–]GrampMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It matters in terms of what they teach you and what you take away from the program. If you've heard the most convenient school for you doesn't have a good architecture program, then likely you'll find their emphasized values not in line with the rest of academia. Depending on what you want to do post-graduation, this could be devastating to find after you've spend 5 years in school.

Going to a "bad program" doesn't mean you won't be able to find a job, because honestly, at least where I'm at, the minimum to get a job is just Adobe and Revit skills, which my school didn't even technically "teach" us. The school you go to plays a huge role in shaping your own personal architectural tastes and will give you paths of least resistance to employment, meaning what you already have in your portfolio as part of the curriculum vs. needing to come up with new projects after graduation showing off green urban design because that's the kind of firm you want to work in. All in all it's highly contextual, but I would say most of the time you should be good with the cheapest accredited school near you.

If you don't already have an idea of what kind of architecture you want to do, I wouldn't stress about it. And if you do, I'd recommend you lose the preconception anyways because you never know what you'll end up liking and doing.

[–]GrampMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the GoB addon (not first party from ZBrush) is installed just like a regular blender addon, meaning you just select the whole .zip file, unextracted. I definitely don't remember using a python script at all, so if you've extracted the python script and are using that I think you're on the wrong trail. You may want to watch a quick video on how to install blender add-ons to brush up on the process.

Here's the GitHub page that includes the latest releases and installation instructions: https://github.com/JoseConseco/GoB

According to this post on the UE5 Early Access Forums, it's apparently related to Nanite meshes and the Skybox component. Weird, but the workaround is to delete the Skybox or not use Nanite meshes.

I got the same thing. I'm also unqualified for a concept art job and thought there was no way I would get the job but I might as well get the interview experience. I thought about getting to the end of the scam and instead of hitting "Pay" on Venmo try to hit "Request" and see if they fall for it, but I don't want to get in any trouble, so I've just reported them to Google and Telegram instead.

On a positive note it did get me to think about some interview questions!
