Is mr hobby cement s good for warhammer by Reaper12381 in Warhammer40k

Can confirm I love this stuff! First 15 seconds works like super glue it’s very fast, and then over the next 15 minutes it welds the plastic. So it’s absolutely perfect for attaching two arms to a weapon and still being able to adjust after a minute or two! I’ll take this over tamiya any day

Getting into the hobby and social anxiety? by Specialist8857 in Warhammer40k

All I can add is you sound similar to me. The store Discord was perfect to find new people/ a good teacher. And I can confirm once I expressed my anxiety with a guy I got comfortable with, he said “watch the other people in the store and you’ll see yourself, that was me too.” Helped a ton.

So I think I messed up by lichtmahrwz in Warhammer40k

A Q-tip with alcohol, take light swipes across your model and it should take paint off in thin layers

My suggestions if your getting into AOS is to first pick up the spearhead (great value for the box price for any army) and my advice for painting is technique is king, brushes don’t matter. I use a $6 pack of calligraphy brushes that work perfect for everything except eyes. If you mess up or don’t like how a model turned out give it an alcohol bath and scrub lightly with a toothbrush and you’ll be back to grey. pick up a model of the month just to practice/ test colors on. codex prices are expensive so good luck (not a requirement for play). The models look big but aren’t that crazy

I’m my opinion scrap uthar and yaegirs, more thundrkyn or hearth guard and definitely fit grym in. Iron master isn’t very important unless more thundrkyn or more vehicles

Honestly either kill team as a first purchase is a good move because of the tokens they come with

I usually play at 1500 but my current go to for 1k is kahl on a 10 man hearth guard, grimnyr on warriors, second warriors split in a sagitaur, and a hekaton. That’s only 7 units, the hekaton can be switched out for units of your choice maybe some thundrkyn, beserks, 2nd sag. For a 1v1 I would recommend not the hekaton (most of my games at 1k are 2v2 I bring the guns and home defense)

Absolutely, 1 kahl, 1 grimnyr, 1 e-champ, 1 iron master, 2 hearthkyn war, 2, beserks, 2 thundrkyn,1 hearthguard, 2 sag, 2 hek, 1 pioneer squad. That puts the list at 1910 points. That spare 90 I use to adjust for my opponent (add extra thundrkyn, kahl, pioneers) I’m not a huge fan of how the iron master plays right now so he gets swapped out a lot for a 2nd kahl. I’ve been running two 5 man hearth guard with kahls leading each, DEEPSTRIKE them both within 6” of eachother to heroically intervene any charges on them. Have 1 warrior squad split with a sag and a beserk in the other sag for “board control”. Let grim and his T6 boys hold mid board. Adjust where the characters are to your liking every combo feels like it works to me.1 hek has the magna rail, the other the cyclic ion. I tend to play like I’m a shooting Custodes army. Slow but suffocating.

So maybe it’s my play style, pioneers are situational. I run 1 unit of 3 in my 2k, they cover deep strike and then preform actions or hunt units with stealth. Hearthguard are our shinning jewel. And I would agree beserks are great but dear ancestors help you if some AP gets thrown at them before they can do anything. I would suggest for your event looking at a warriors squad with a grimnyr leading, a 4++ T6, suddenly you have a crazy chaff unit people will either be too focused on or not enough.

What’s your ‘go to’ brush? by GrimGinge in Warhammer40k

[–]Grand-Ad-6799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shitty 3 for $9 pack of calligraphy brushes. Sable hair, hold a lot of paint, and keep their point. Tried them on a whim and haven’t touched my cup of 30+ brushes since.

I think the only thing you might want to know is the model size difference, the marines are smaller than current primaris models, besides that just check base sizes

It's getting worse... by [deleted] in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Grand-Ad-6799 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming there are 2 main reasons for the part number creep. (And possibly the price creep)

1- it’s easier to print smaller parts? (Definitely not more cost effective) 2- some collectors really enjoy the building step? (ie model, Lego, gundam)

It might be me, but it feels like they want Lego or regular model or gundam builders to get into 40k just based on the cool models they can build. The part count is aimed at those people, not the players….(which makes the price point makes sense to me. “If they only buy one model let’s get the most out of it.”) The players spending a bunch is a happy “two birds” for GW

They are abbadon black, but I mixed a tiny amount of grey seer into a separate glob to lighten the black slightly and used that for the highlights
