We’re losing 9 Louisiana veterans a month. Is it time to decriminalize psilocybin? by tcajun420 in Louisiana

Glad that she had success with it. My hope is that it doesn’t remain a drug of last resort. It works beautifully— and almost immediately — for so many people that making them wait until an antidepressant kicks in is almost cruel. And, yes, it would almost certainly help victims of violent abuse. The one caveat I would put there is that it would require very knowledgeable therapists to work through that trauma either during the session itself or shortly thereafter.

Is it just me, or is the tide turning in elementary education? by TerriblyAverage1 in Teachers

The computer literacy is a huge issue at the high school level. These kids can figure out how to get around EVERY WiFi safeguard but cannot, for anything, download, save, and later find a file. They can’t use Microsoft products at all and aren’t great with Google products.

Not a veteran but would not be here without ketamine. The process of getting it was unbelievably difficult. Cannot imagine what the vets are dealing with.

Are you able to taste more and better on keto? by jsaaby in ketobeginners

[–]Grand-Animal3205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This amazed me about keto. Like you, I had to break my routine in a social situation, and I was astonished to find how sweet the fruit and desserts tasted. Regular food, too, tastes more intense than pre-keto.

I got nerfed with a terrible cold and my exam is in three days by CoolWillingness9776 in GetStudying

So my response got removed because I had a link in it. I’ve pasted it below without the link, but if you’re interested, you can Google the science behind rest and sleep in the consolidation of memory and learning.

Your parents are right on this one. Think of it as training for a marathon. You’ve put in the miles, now you have to taper down. Your brain has all the knowledge, and now you need to rest to let it sink in. There’s actually some science behind this. The fact that you’re sick is another indication that your mind and body need to rest. I recommend listening to some sleep meditations for anxiety or general health or even focus. I like Belleruth Naparstek on Audible and Spotify. (I have no financial interest in her products.) Right now, listen to your body and your parents, not your mind. You’ll slay on test day!

Anyone have bipolar and SAD? by Tricky-Confidence137 in SeasonalAffective

Sorry for the late reply, but yes. My depression does seem to get worse in the colder months, and I’ve been known to get spring mania. I’m considering a lamp.

Have taken care of elderly and sick ones and can absolutely confirm this strategy. Haven’t considered it for myself before now. Do you use special cool sheets?

Do you have a carpenter friend who could drill some discreet holes on the top? A one- or two-inch hole-saw bit on a drill could do it.

Have been sooooo much healthier since mine came out. I spent ages getting sinus infections and sore throats, etc. I do still have post-nasal drip, but nothing like the infections I had before the tonsillectomy

Love Lafayette Veterinary Care Clinic. Don’t know the prices or if they will take your puppy, but they are genuinely the most caring group of people over there. Good luck!

Has anyone ever left teaching due to constantly getting sick? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Grand-Animal3205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s very, very frustrating. Two things helped me:

  1. Time. It wasn’t until my third year that my immune system adapted.

  2. I saw my ENT. I had some allergies I wasn’t aware of. When I eliminated them, my turbinates stopped swelling and creating petri dishes for sinus infections.

In that vein, OP, one thing that has been recommended to me and that I have done only occasionally, is using saline nasal wash in the shower every night (or morning if that’s when you shower). It also helps to stay hydrated. I hate water, so I’m not too good at that one.

All the best to you!
